"I called D&S Termite and Pest Control two times to rid my house of rats, once in Sept, 2011 and and once in  Nov, 2013.  The first service in Sept, 2011 went went well.  The Field Representative searched the house and yard for evidence of rats, found evidence in the attic, and placed traps there.  He came back in a week or so, removed a dead rat, and checked back each week for a month.  I paid $200 for this service.  The second time, the Field Representative did not do an extensive search (perhaps because he had done one two years before).  He did not check the attic because I had found evidence of the rats on the first floor--in retrospect, I think a search of the attic was warranted.  He placed four traps in the house.  I found a dead rat in the kitchen and disposed of it myself.  This time (Nov. 2013) I signed a contract: D&S placed three rat traps on my property outside and I have been paying $35 to have them checked once each month for a year.  Apparently, D&S will also check the house if there was evidence of rats within.   This has ended up costing $420 and I have received very little in return.  I do not feel that the house was searched well enough initially for evidence of rats.  I could have set the traps myself, and, indeed, I, not D&S, ended up removing the dead rat.  I would probably not hire D&S again.

"Trap snapped 2 hours after he left. Unfortunately it didn’t kill instantly and I had to finish the job as both my husband and exterminator not present. Had to put poor critter out of its misery. We are city folks living in country for first time and have a lot to learn. Yet very efficient company that uses traps and chemistry nontoxic to environment and my animals. "I used Home Advisor to identify companies that handle pest control in my area. Four companies showed up and Hi-Tech Pest Control was one with highest rating. However, I sent requests to all four companies that showed up on the Home Advisor web site. And Charity Waldman, the Hi-Tech Pest Control office manager called me within two hours of my online request. The call was very professional, asking all of the right questions in a very pleasant manner. The other three pest control companies either didn't respond or did respond about two or three days after my online request. Steve Barton of Hi-Tech Pest Control came to my house and introduced himself and explained what he would do during the house inspection. "Excellent job over several weeks. Consistently on time, efficient and fast, always cooperative and pleasant to work with. Various size crews from one to three depending upon the job to be done. We had extensive needed work done. We feel the cost was reasonable though fairly expensive at a total of $9,800 plus $39 for the initial inspection. We have a single story, 2,500 sq. ft. house with attached garage and rear separate patio enclosure. First, a licensed inspector went over the exterior, the interior, the huge unimproved attic, the garage interior and separate patio enclosure. He provided us with a detailed plan view identifying the many visual and suspected locations of both subterranean and drywood termites as well as dry rot. Two different kinds of environmentally approved chemical treatment were used for the two types of termites. They treated all around the outside of the house by boring holes every 12 inches through the concrete slab and inside through the wall and windowsill to inject for subterraneans, sprayed for drywood termites in attic, garage inside and all exterior fascias/shiplap/corbels along with patio wood posts. Cost $3,200. Two year warranty. In the attic they cleaned out all insulation along with field rat droppings, vacuumed, treated rafters for drywood termites, spray sanitized, closed some air duct open spots, checked for and sealed rat access point, re-installed new higher rated insulation (R38), set rat traps which were inspected several times over about three weeks & no rats found. Cost $4,800. They removed and replaced damaged wood members, splicing in new wood or filling areas with minor damage with wood filler and prime painted these areas. Cost$1,800."
