"Rick, the owner, was a man of his word from beginning to end. His crew was respectful of our family, family's time and concerns. (18 month old baby & 3yr old) After my wife and I selected our colors they came out and in two days the exterior of our two story plus the interior vaulted ceiling was completed with nothing disturbed. If you don't mind your neighbors stopping and complimenting your homes new look then Four Seasons Painting is well priced with quality workmanship which we know we couldn't have made a better choice."

"
The experience went very good overall. Clayton, the owner, was very professional. He came out and gave me an estimate for the drywall repairs and kitchen remodeling work. He was referred to me by another contractor and we were happy with the results. He always came out when he said he would and he finished the job on time so i could get my next tenant in the home. The work was clean and the walls and kitchen look great!"

"Most of the project was completed as agreed. I purchased a coupon for 40 hours of painting for one painter or 20 hours of painting for two painters and so on. The first day four painters arrived on time and completed most of the job. The second day two painters arrived and completed most of what was left. They ran out of time meaning they used up all 40 hours of the coupon. They said that they would be leaving with the job still not completed. I asked them to finish the job on a time & material basis. They finished painting the walls, ceilings and crown moulding in the great room and kitchen. They informed me that they would be leaving at the end of the day because they had another job to go to. My paint job was not yet completed when they left. I still had crown moulding and base to be painted in the entry way and dining room. this has still not been completed because we are unable to climb up and down ladders and paint due to our age and physical limitations. Two painters arrived on the last day to finish the job. Of the two, one was very experienced and worked very fast. The other was a trainee who took a very long time to paint anything. If I did use this company again, I would put a clause in the contract that all work must be finished before cleaning up and going away.
This job is still unfinished and will remain so until I can find painters that I can afford to finish the job. I am disappointed in the way the job ended. I am happy with the quality of the work they completed and unhappy with the unfinished portion. I feel that it was unprofessional for them to walk off the job and leave the finish work undone. I understand that I purchased 40 hours of painting and that I would have to pay more if time ran out before the job was completed. I did pay them for the excess time that they stayed past the 40 hours. The owners did a walk through before the job was started. I believe this would have been a good time to express any concerns that it would require more than 40 hours.
My advise to anybody who uses this company or purchases a coupon to make sure the contract states that all work must be completed before leaving.

Painted all the rooms in my house. Changed flooring from carpet to hardwood floors and repaired my patio. Also, they do maintenance when when I need plumbing or A/C done. They are very professional and respond in timely manner. Highly recommended.  "

"I own a house in Rocklin and hired John to make a safe and maintenance free yard for my relatives/tenants who live there, including 5 little kids.  John was absolutely wonderful to work with.  His work was on time and on budget and of the highest quality.  He is a exceptionally pleasant person and brought ideas and an open mind to our initial planning meeting, then kept me informed at each phase of the project with progress reports and suggestions to keep our costs on target.  He understood our
objectives of creating a safe play space, making choices and repairs to ensure durability, enhancing privacy, and creating the least maintenance needs possible.  What a great job he did!  We got exactly what we wanted.  I would not hesitate for a second to recommend John and his crew.

Deck Maintenance questions, answered by experts

To maximize the utility of space under a deck, it’s important to keep this area dry and clean. One way to prevent the area from becoming too wet is to install an under-deck draining system. This affordable home upgrade channels water away from the deck and provides usable space for storage or a functional area below a second-story deck. Not only will this be a useful maintenance upgrade, it can boost your home’s property value.

Choosing whether your deck should be lighter or darker than your house is a matter of personal preference, as there is no right or wrong answer. However, considering the pros and cons of each can help guide your decision. Darker colors are often chosen because they show less dirt, footprints, and marks from daily wear, making them easier to keep clean. On the other hand, lighter deck colors tend to stay cooler in the summer. From a design perspective, using a deck color that contrasts with your home's exterior can help make the deck a more defined and distinct feature. Consulting color theory can also make the process of choosing a complementary house and deck color combination easier.

Most building codes require that spindles or balusters on deck and stair railings be spaced no more than four inches apart. This safety standard, often called the '4-inch sphere rule,' is designed to prevent small children or pets from slipping through the railing. A good way to visualize this is that a 4-inch sphere should not be able to pass between two spindles. For the same safety reason, the space between the bottom rail and the deck floor should also be no more than four inches. As a general guideline, professionals often install three balusters per foot of railing. However, since specific requirements can vary by location, it is crucial to check your local building codes to ensure compliance before starting your project.

Homeowners should build their floating decks at least 18 inches off the ground. Having it at this height will allow for better airflow underneath and help prevent moisture-related problems like warping or rot. That being said, local guidelines for deck heights may vary depending on where you live.

It’s best to use two screws to secure deck boards into every joist. Securing the boards to every joist makes the deck more structurally sound, while using two screws on the outer sides of the boards can help prevent warping and cupping.
