"We had several windows and doors replaced and I was really impressed with the new windows and doors as well as the professional installation by Perry and his crew. They made sure everything was square, clean, and caulked. Great job! I highly recommend Metropolitan High Performance Windows."

"Brothers replaced every window in entire house around 6 years ago,. Excellent work! Recent (unusual) torrental rains resulted in leak in large picture window…they immediately inspected and sent a team to repair and also checked every window in the house to ensure they were okay. "I recently purchased my first home with issues. TME Construction was hired to repair leaking windows and a cinder block wall. Tony and his crew arrived 30 minutes early and started working immediately. They checked to see if the windows were installed correctly and they were. Then all the windows were sealed. My wonderful dog knocked over a cinder block off the top of a block wall fence (low fence big dog). They repaired the block wall and today you would never know it ever happened. Tony made sure that my wonderful dog could never knock down the cinder block again! My side gate was broken and Tony fixed it for me which was not included in my service request nor did I ask. That was awesome! Tony and his crew went above and beyond and I am so fortunate that I found his company! I highly recommend TME Construction. The cost was responsible and I know I will use their services in the future. Thank you Tony!! Veronica"

"I highly recommend this product and this company. I found Tint Factory through the list of LA recommended companies on the 3M website. they were not the only companies that I interviewed. I called 3M a few times with questions and interviewed the companies that came out to give bids. the Tint Factory people from the beginning couldn't have been nicer. they were on time, explained every step, cleaned up all and the price was right. the film takes about a month to "cure" and the work was done only a few days ago but what a transformation - the house is so much cooler and 99% of the UV rays are no longer going to fade my furniture, photos or art. a happier me. my assistant marveled today at how much cooler the house was and it was blistering outside today... LA will, unfortunately, only be getting hotter - solar film is a good way to reduce that heat load. even if you use air-conditioning (which I don't), you will have less hot air to cool."

Windows questions, answered by experts

You can add any type of window to a brick house, so long as the window has proper support. Windows with wider openings and windows in brick walls will need a lintel to support the extra weight above the window frame. A lintel is a support beam that distributes the weight from above evenly around the window.

Adding windows to a house is expensive. Budget roughly $5,800 to add a single window, and double or triple that to add two or three. In some cases, adding a single window can exceed $20,000, depending on the type of exterior wall, the size of the window, the type of window, local permit costs, and other factors.

You can choose 5/8-inch plywood or 3/4-inch plywood—anything thinner than these sizes may not withstand the impact of debris propelled by strong winds or can be easily torn off by intruders. Remember that the durability of the wood board is crucial, particularly for safeguarding your windows during severe storms. The effectiveness of using wood boards for protecting the investment you made in your home relies on using the appropriate material and ensuring proper installation.

It is legal to put bars on windows in most places, but it depends on the type of bars you choose and the regulations in your area. For example, there are building codes in Mississippi, California, and Texas that forbid the use of permanently closed burglar bars on windows due to concerns about people getting trapped inside during fires.

Shatter-resistant glass will ensure that even with a high impact, the glass of your window panes is less likely to break. If you’re looking for a more low-cost way to prevent vandalism, the most traditional answer would be to board up windows with a strong plywood sheet. Adding security cameras is also a surefire way to ward off potential vandalism.
