"We were able to make an appointment within 3 working days (we were in no hurry as it was not an urgent issue).  We were called the morning of the visit as his first call was running long and he wanted us to know that he would be a little late - greatly appreciated.  He was efficient and professional.  He cleaned up the work area before leaving and explained everything that we did.  He provided us with a selection of thermostats and explained the differences among them.  We were very happy with service and will use them for our HVAC needs in the future.

"Great. My daughter contracted Air Duct Professionals to do her home. James, the technician, was professional, knowledgeable and did a quality job. I contacted Air Duct to do my home and requested James. James arrived on time and did an excellent job. He also helped me with a leak with my HVAC Condenser and diagnosed and fixed the issue."

"Only firm that realized an upgraded filter system was appropriate for the requested air scrubber. Contracted to have them replace 30 year old HVAC unit and ductwork. Completed project within 7 days of hiring. Highly recommend."

"After a routine maintence service call and an aging HVAC system, tech Carmelo scheduled a call for sales rep to contact me for a quote on new ststem. Sales rep Jonathan, met with me on a Saturday & I ordered new system. installation was performed on Monday. Installers Ray & Nick were very neat, polite, & answered all questions. I have carried my maintenance contract with RighTime since 2012 after assuming the contract from folks I bought my home from."

"I was referred to JCC through a friend after dealing with with countless flakey and sub par HVAC technicians. Daniel came through beyond my expectations by coming correct every step of the installation of my ductless mini split AC system. I appreciate Daniel's attention to detail and I value the high caliber of cleanliness, punctuation, communication and the precision of how he executed this install for me. Every aspect of the installation was super clean from the mounting of unit, wiring and placement of condenser. I work in the trades and I see how sloppy people are by leaving messes. He left the work area every day better than he found it. Top notch! In my experience you get what you pay for and if you want shotty work and a deal go to Juan, if you want quality and appreciate craftsmanship I would fully recommend JCC to anyone who is among the same mindset. Daniel made an otherwise stressful experience into a very smooth transaction and I was left feeling absolutely confident in the quality of install and he educated me on every aspect of useage. I feel absolutly secure in my dealings with Daniel. ð ¯"

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

Replacing an HVAC system does not always include new ductwork. The decision depends on the condition of your existing ducts. If they are in good shape, correctly sized for the new unit, and meet current standards, they can often be reused. However, if the ducts are damaged, poorly designed, or improperly sized, they will likely need to be replaced or upgraded to ensure the new system operates efficiently. An HVAC contractor will assess your ductwork and recommend the best course of action. Typically, ductwork is purchased separately, and a full replacement will add to the overall project cost.

Not if you have a standard unit. Because portable AC units actually work to dehumidify the room, you’ll likely need to drain the unit from time to time—but you won’t have to put water into it. There is, however, another type of air conditioner called a swamp cooler that requires water to operate. If you have a swamp cooler, you may need to fill a reservoir with water and potentially ice. But a swamp cooler is different from a standard portable AC unit.

You need to know the square footage of your home first. Multiply that number by 20, which will get you the BTUs (British Thermal Units) needed to cool your home efficiently. Homes up to 1,000 square feet usually need a 1.5-ton unit; homes 1,000 to 1,200 square feet usually need a 1.75-ton unit, and homes 1,200 to 1,400 square feet usually need a 1.9-ton unit. Talk to a local pro for more specific advice on your home.

You should get anywhere from three to five quotes for HVAC replacement to get an idea of the average cost of a new unit. Although this quote-collecting process can be time consuming, it allows you to compare what work is required, what type of unit you should install, and how much you should expect to pay for the service.

Yes, it’s best to turn off an AC unit that’s blowing hot air to prevent system damage and avoid expensive energy bills. If you let the AC continue running, it will put more strain on the condenser coil and compressor. Plus, if the AC is blowing hot air because of a refrigerant leak, it can also lead to a frozen evaporator coil.
