"This was one of those experiences that make you question how people like this are even in business. Whether it was incompetence or outright dishonesty, I’m not sure, but either way, I would NEVER recommend this company. They were assigned to my service request through American Home Shield, and while they scheduled and showed up promptly, that’s about the only positive thing I can say. It was downhill from there. The technician spent two hours at my home, never once bothering to check the outdoor unit, instead spending all his time in the attic. He diagnosed the issue: a "dead" blower motor. According to him, my entire unit was too old (a 12 year old Trane, which is hardly ancient), and the attic system was supposedly "frankensteined" together. His "solution" was a full unit replacement, NOT covered by my warranty, for a nice, round $10,000. His alternative offer was replacing the blower motor. But, surprise, that also wouldn't be covered and would cost $2,500. He sent his report to AHS, conveniently blaming "dust and animal hair" for the failure and explicitly stating it was NOT due to "normal wear and tear"...which, by the way, is the only reason it wouldn't be covered. In Arizona, where dust is as inevitable as the heat, this excuse was laughable. And even if dust was the issue, the AHS warranty would still cover it, unless the tech claimed it wasn't "normal wear and tear"...which is exactly what he did. I didn’t buy his sales pitch for a second. I refused to blindly hand over thousands of dollars, especially when I had a warranty that promised to cover these things. So, after hours of back-and-forth with AHS, I requested a second opinion. The new technician from a different company spent 30 minutes actually troubleshooting the entire system. The blower motor wasn’t even the issue. It was a completely different part and, not-so-suprisingly, that part was fully covered by my warranty. So to be clear: this company tried to scam me out of thousands of dollars. It’s frustrating and disheartening to realize that you have to be skeptical of every service provider because companies like this exist. You want to trust that they’re there to help you, but unfortunately, some are just looking to take advantage of your lack of technical knowledge. My advice: • Always get a second opinion. Always. • Do your research. Not just on the company, but on the basics of how your system works. If they think you don’t know what’s going on, they will absolutely try to take advantage of that. • If you’re dealing with AHS, ask to choose a company based on reviews. They’ll give you a list of available providers so you can do some quick research before scheduling. • And if you're considering this company because of their 1000+ five star Google reviews, do yourself a favor and check their Yelp reviews too. A 2.8 star rating on Yelp tells a very different story. And because I know they’ll likely respond with some defensive nonsense, I’ll just add: Yes, they did try calling me multiple times after I complained to AHS. No, I didn’t bother engaging. I had already seen enough."
