"Emanuel, and his crew, did a fantastic job placing pavers in our extended driveway. They moved the plants to the back yard and made sure they were getting enough water through our drip system. They handled everything with skill and professionalism, on time, and with great skill. I would recommend them to anyone that needs great work done at a fair price."

"Marvista recently replaced our 55 year old backyard block wall. We were pleased with the construction and the old and new fences were nicely combined. Mike, Mario and crew did the job in a timely manner and left a clean work site."

"The job done by the company was outstanding. Owner Craig proposed a plan that incorporated all our wants and the company started a week later. Craig was on site everyday for the two weeks the project took to complete. We were able to make changes as work progressed so had a lot of hands on input which we appreciated. His three person crew were absolutely excellent - very talented stonemasons, attentive to detail and hardworking. We definitely recommend this company."

",I asked Mike of SustainScape and two other landscape firms that are highly rated on Yelp for a design and cost estimate to execute the design for my front and side yards. I am very particular about my landscaping. It is my hobby and what I wanted is a little different than the usual.
The other two firms were also very professional and I am pretty confident that their work is good. All three were pretty close in price.
But Mike of Sustain Scape was the only one who really read and responded to all the items in the brief that I had prepared. Mike's design  reflected the needs and the style I had outlined. And, in addition, he brought ideas that improved it in many ways, all based on the problems that I had outlined in the brief, as things I wanted solved.
As professionals, we all like to stick to the things we have done before, to produce a result that has worked before. But Mike had the confidence to respond to my difficult requests with very creative ideas for things that they don't do every day,  and then execute them flawlessly.
Mike has very high standards. When he inspected one piece of stonework that I thought looked fine, he had his crew tear it down partially and rebuild it the way he wanted it. And his crew works to very high standards. They consistently surprised me with the extra bit of thought and quality that they put into their work. I see it and appreciate it in little details every day as I enjoy my front yard.
Bottom line: Sustain Scape exceeded my very high expectations.

"Frank and his team were very responsive, from estimating to completion of project less than a week! Project included removing 2/3 of sod, installing two paver walkways, capping off and redirecting irrigation and filling in the remainder of the yard with granite stone that matches my original stone. The team was very professional and friendly. I have already recommended them to two of my neighbors"

Masonry questions, answered by experts

In Mesa, start each spring by inspecting masonry for cracks, loose mortar, or shifting stones before the summer heat intensifies. After monsoon season, check for water damage or drainage issues around retaining walls and patios. Clean and reseal surfaces in winter when temperatures are mild, and do monthly walk-throughs to catch small problems early, helping preserve both structural integrity and curb appeal.

Helpful?

Completing masonry work in Mesa boosts comfort by leveraging the thermal mass of brick and stone, which helps keep interiors cooler during AZ’s hottest months. Masonry walls also reduce dust infiltration and outside noise, creating a cleaner, quieter environment. Adding features like outdoor kitchens or fire pits extends usable living space, while durable materials resist fading and cracking, making homes more enjoyable year-round.

Helpful?

Masonry work in Mesa lasts longer when built with UV-resistant sealers and materials suited for AZ’s temperature swings. Properly preparing foundations for caliche soil, installing drainage solutions, and adding expansion joints are crucial. Quality craftsmanship, routine inspections, and timely repairs all help masonry structures—like retaining walls and outdoor living spaces—stand up to Mesa’s unique climate and soil conditions for years.

Helpful?

For a seamless masonry project in Mesa, first verify if permits or HOA approval are needed, especially for retaining walls or outdoor living features. Plan construction for cooler months to avoid heat delays and monsoon interruptions. Select materials proven to handle local temperature extremes, and hire professionals familiar with caliche soil challenges to ensure stable foundations and efficient site access from the start.

Helpful?

In Mesa, minor masonry repairs often finish in 1-2 days, while larger projects like patios or retaining walls typically require 5-14 days. Excavating caliche soil may add extra time for proper footing. Permit approval can take about a week, and summer’s high temperatures may reduce daily work hours, occasionally extending project timelines during busy seasons or extreme weather.
