Sun King Fencing & Gates
About us
Sun King Fencing and Gates has been providing high-quality wrought iron and block fences and gates for homes throughout the Phoenix Metropolitan area for over 14 years. WE DO NOT DO WOOD OR CHAIN LINK FENCING. Quality installations, attention to detail, and superior customer service are reasons for our success. We are very proud of our excellent records with both the Better Business Bureau and the Registrar of Contractors. What makes Sun King Fencing and Gates so unique is that we fabricate every fence and gate at our shop in Mesa, Arizona to meet specifications for each customer. We use only the highest quality bulk iron that is fabricated by our experienced welders. Once your wrought iron gate or fence project is completed, we apply an epoxy-based primer using an electrostatic paint gun. Next we apply an environmentally safe polyurethane paint to match your color needs. The polyurethane paint wraps the steel with a hard outer shell protecting it from water and sun damage. Sun King Fencing and Gates proudly serves the communities of Gilbert, Scottsdale, Paradise Valley, Chandler, Mesa, Tempe, Phoenix, and Fountain Hills with high-quality wrought iron fencing and gates. Call us today and see how we can improve the look and safety of your home or business.

"Thank you so much for your kind words. We enjoyed working with you as well!!"
"Thank you, Dorrie. We really enjoyed working with you guys as well!! Ken"
"Thank you very much [Member Name Removed]!!"
"[Member Name Removed], you may want to check your voicemail a little better before writing a libelous review of me and my company. I responded both times within minutes of your calls and left messages on the same business line you called me from. I have saved screenshots of my calls back to you but unfortunately I cannot post them here. Regarding the gate swing, we try to conform to pool code whenever possible. Your review above is not an accurate refection of our conversation. Perhaps in the future you can email people as a backup since clearly there are phone issues on your end."
"Thank you very much for the kind review!"
"This is an unfortunate situation where a customer loved the gates she saw on our website even though her house was not in an area we serve. We made it very clear to her from the beginning that we can't warranty gates that we don't install. She wanted the gates badly and came to our shop and picked them up. A few months later, she text to say she didn't like the handle we had provided, that she needed a lock. I asked her if a double-deadbolt would work for her to which she replied, "Yes." I picked up two double-deadbolts, had them keyed the same and drove over 50 miles to her house and installed them. At that point, she didn't like those either and told me she needed a handle with a lock on each side. The only time I had purchased those before (for a one-hole lockbox), my cost was $300, which I told her and said that those were not what she had contracted for. She became a bit indignant and told me to put the original handles back on since that is what was in the contract, which I did. A couple of things to note, first of all, I was not obligated to drive over 100 miles round trip to help her, as we had delivered exactly what she agreed to in the contract. But I did the drive because I really wanted to solve the issue. Second, I was in the process of going another extra mile for her by searching websites for cheaper locks that might serve her purpose when she decided her best plan to remedy this was to try to damage our reputation through social media. I was under no obligation to spend half a day trying to help her, but our company does what we can to satisfy every customer. Some can't be satisfied. Happily, that's a very rare occasion!"
"Thank you, [Member Name Removed], for writing that wonderful review. Working with you and [Member Name Removed] was a true pleasure and my guys and I are always thrilled when we know we've helped to protect people's grandchildren."
"Thank you, [Member Name Removed], for taking the time to write that nice review. I'll let the guys know. It was a pleasure working with you and [Member Name Removed]. Ken"
The delays and increase in cost were acceptable given that Ken was very communicative during the process and up front with his lack of experience having only owned the business for a year and a half. My main complaint is with the finish and color of the gate. When I had the initial consultation, I was given my options on gate color. Ken does not carry a black sample with him and did not mention the ability to color match any existing color until after the installation. Having no prior experience, I asked Ken for his recommendation and he said the dark brown would be the option that would go best with the house (even with some existing black iron work on the house). When the gate was installed, the "dark" brown was obviously very brown next to the existing black iron. I expressed my dissatisfaction with the color but he felt no obligation to refinish the gate despite the color being his recommendation AND that he did not have a black sample to show me AND never gave me the option for a color match. He simply gave me information for another company that could repaint the gate and proceeded to closeout and charge me the remaining balance.
Even though Ken was easy to deal with and very accessible, his lack of experience lead to delays, increase in cost, and a finished product that did not match well with the house. Although he admits to this, he claims no obligation to make the job right. I will now likely incur more costs to repaint the gate which will likely make the job more expensive than all the other bids that I received.
