"We are very pleased; Masterscapes are experts in their field and very professional in managing the process of such an  extensive project  for our large corner lot.  Masterscapes coordinated all permits and HOA approvals without a hitch. They worked closely with us on plant selection, paying close attention to our wish list for color and flowering schedule.  They made sure we were involved in tile selection, meeting with the vendors on site, along with selection of special water features and design of the fireplace.  We highly recommend Masterscapes: they deliver high value, are price competitive, and are true professionals."

"This is the second review we write for the Outdoor Xscapes guys. We used Outdoor Xscapes a couple years ago for our first initial project (some basic landscaping with pavers, travertine, lawn, etc), and we contacted them for a second round a few weeks ago, this time to build a bbq, fireplace, and a couple walls. Steve has been our designer for both projects and we could not be happier. The whole process went really smooth, the guys did a great job (the crew was really nice and super clean, and made sure that when they were done they wash the backyard area where they were working at), and completed he project to our desire. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Outdoor Xscapes to anyone looking for a great landscaper. Thank you guys!!"

"They hung my Christmas lights for me and the day they were to show up it was suppose to rain all day, so we had to move the install till Friday, but as the day started the times weren't working out. Joel, was very good about wanting to get my install done on my time frame so he came out on Saturday morning and got the job done. The lights look great."

"Referred by neighbor after seeing their gazebo. I wanted this done before the holidays when family was coming in town; these guys got in done sooner than expected. I had a general idea of what I wanted the fireplace to look like, but there proposed design was better than anything I could have dreamt of! I was impressed by the quality of the work, fair pricing, and attention to detail. Will be using them for our next project!"

"I would recommend Joe and his crew to anyone. I ran into a nightmare trying to get an outdoor fireplace done through 2 other contractors and Superior came through and saved the project. The crew did exactly what needed to be done to finally complete the job 2 other companies could not accomplish!! Highly recommend and thanks again Joe!"

Fireplaces questions, answered by experts

An outdoor fireplace can add value to your home, with an estimated return on investment (ROI) of 56%. This luxurious outdoor feature will certainly appeal to buyers when the time comes to sell. And, of course, if you aren’t in the market, an outdoor fireplace will increase the livability of your home.

Avoid using abrasive cleansing powders on natural stone, as these products could damage the porous material. Using bleach is also a poor idea because of the porosity of the stone. Avoid using a scrub brush with metal bristles, as they could scratch the stone. If you know who manufactured your stone or who installed the fireplace, you may want to contact that entity for any advice on cleaning it safely.

Costs range from $3,500 to $15,000, depending on material, labor, and design complexity.

The short answer is yes, but the longer answer is more complex. Unless the fireplace is ventless by design, you’ll need some type of exhaust pipe system to safely send fumes and other harmful byproducts out of the house. Even then, ventless fireplaces are not always permitted because they do keep the byproducts inside of your house. Ventless fireplaces are safest when installed in spaces that are themselves well-ventilated, like large rooms with lots of windows.

A fireplace can take anywhere from a few hours to several weeks to remodel, depending on the complexity of the project. For example, for a simple paint job, you’ll spend very little time touching up your fireplace, while larger remodels that involve replacing or repairing a fireplace can take up to 4 weeks.
