It is hard to find someone you trust in this business, as we all know about being oversold on things we might not really need.... Not with Plumbing Masters. They are honest and will do their best to save you money, but fix your problem! I highly recommend them! Also, super quick response time... "After looking over the reports on Angie's list, I decided to go with Thornton Plumbing based on reports. My husband called July 1, and received an apology that they would not be able to come out that same day-which we would not have expected! Service was set for the following day with a time frame from 9-10:00AM. We did not ask for an estimate of the job. Mike arrived right on time at 10:00. We introduced ourselves, and Mike went to work. I asked if there was anything we could do to assist, and when he opened the cabinet door below the sink and saw that it was cleared out, he said, "Nope, this makes me smile." Due to the hard water we have in Phoenix, there was a build up of water marks around the base of the old faucet. We have a Corian countertop that can be sanded with a fine grit of sand paper to remove the water spots. We did not have any of the needed sand paper, and Mike stated he would bring in a mesh sheet from his truck that could work. He did not have to do so, but removed the water spots (and crust) with Soft Scrub and the piece of mesh prior to installing the new faucet. The installation took approximately 40 minutes. When asked for any tips with maintenance, Mike suggested taking action at the first signs of a leak that could mean replacing only necessary internal parts rather than a whole faucet. It was also a plus having the $20 coupon offer from Thornton for the work performed."
"Work was completed satisfactorily and all my faucets are still workng well. He was thorough and he told me to check the repaired supply lines for a few days for leaks as the old ones had been very difficult to remove. Outdoor faucet is working well. He had told me a vacuum breaker was not needed on the outdoor faucet but I insisted he put it back on as my home inspector had told me when I bougt the house that a vacuum breaker was required.
This plumber also told me my water pressure was too high and that I needed a pressure regulator, but I got another opinion from another licensed plumber who worked on my water softener who verified that pressure was normal after he checked it with a water pressure gauge I bought (Rainbird P24) as well as his own water pressure gauge.
"This was the second company I had come look at the leak in my toilet. The first one I thought was expensive. However he only wanted to replace the wax ring for the toilet for $600. So I contacted Angie's list and they sent out master router who to my surprise said I had a major problem in my home. That my walls had too much moisture and it was dangerous. The master bathroom supposedly had 100% humidity and the guest bathroom varied from 27 to 47% humidity. That was supposed to be very dangerous. They said my flange was below the tile level which they said was not right. I have since found out that is incorrect. I had not asked them to check out the master bathroom but they had me extremely concerned that I was living in a hazardous situation. Before I knew it, my guest bathroom was completely gutted and my master bathroom was partially gutted. A restoration company called copperstate came in on their tails and had me even more concerned about what was going to happen in my home.I erroneously thought they were under Angie's list also. I can't complain about the quality of the work from master router because it was good I was just not prepared to do $20,000 worth of repairs to my home. Especially since it was not needed from what the previous company had said. My insurance company is no longer responding and has paid only a portion of what things have cost me. and so I have now had to fork out nearly $20,000 and my master bathroom is still not finished. I do have to admit that they did find an issue with the repair done by Roto-Rooter in 2018 but that should not have cost me the kind of repairs that master router forced me to have done. I would not have had to have two major bathrooms gutted. I have not told him about things like the bubbler that they cut nor that I still am not happy with the cement repair but I am concerned because I've complained about him the cement several times. I'm afraid they won't ever make it any better. I would like it if master router could give me a partial refund because it would never have cost me this kind of money if they had just repaired the toilet the way the other company recommended. The toilet in the guest bathroom still has its original symptoms from the problem that the contractor was supposed to fix."
Basement Waterproofing questions, answered by experts
Yes, a crawl space can add value to your home. However, there is a higher chance of it adding value if it is an enclosed crawl space, as this reduces issues caused by excess moisture in the home. That being said, a basement does add more value than a crawl space.
A leak under your foundation from a water supply line or sewage line is likely to lead to water pooling on certain areas of your property during rainfall, abnormally fast-growing or green grass in certain sections of your lawn, and differential settlement of your foundation, which can result in large foundation cracks, windows and doors failing to operate properly, a wavy or sloping roofline, or damages or irregularities in your interior walls, including cracks and bulging. If it’s a plumbing line embedded in your slab, you’ll also likely notice above-average water bills.
Typically, waterproofing a basement should last up to 10 years. However, it’s worth noting that with proper maintenance and depending on the waterproofing method and installation quality, you can probably squeeze another decade out of it.
The best type of basement ventilation system depends on your budget, the moisture in your basement’s air, and the types of windows you have down there. You should consider all of these factors when choosing a ventilation system. However, the most effective method for basement ventilation is an energy recovery ventilator (ERV) or a whole-house ventilation system, which preheats or precools incoming air from the outside while also managing water vapor.
You should always hire a structural engineer or a professional and licensed foundation repair company for crawl space repair. These professionals will often be able to treat the symptoms of the issue as well as the underlying problem so that you don’t have ongoing damage. They’ll also often take preventative measures to stop the issue from recurring in the future.
