"Very polite, friendly and knowledgeable. Did things the previous yard man didnâ t. Trimmed all my plants, cleaned up debris, took care of weeds leaving everything looking great! Jose found and fixed major leaks in my watering system. He reset my timer and made sure everything was working properly."

"We started with nothing and after a couple of weeks we have an oasis! Luis and his crew put in irrigation, pavers, a concrete border for the plants, sod, rock and a lot of bushes and flowers. We spend a lot of time enjoying our backyard now. Our dogs are loving the grass and we love all of it! They did an amazing job!"

Small jobs welcome

"First visit, Matt identified the problem (a bad capacitor in the control panel power supply) and suggested that I could probably get my existing panel repaired rather than replace. He was right and Sprinkler World fixed the panel for $40 (compared to $120 or more for a new panel). Second visit, Jason and Matt replaced 16 sprinkler heads to fix/improve poor lawn irrigation. Matt and Jason were prompt, called ahead to alert me they were on their way, professional in their demeanor and performed the work requested in very reasonable time. I am very satisfied with Sprinkler Doctors."

"Daryl had his crew right over. They trimmed all of the bushes, cleaned up the weeds and mowed the lawn. They worked hard. They hauled all of the trimmings off. The backyard looked like a bit of heaven. They left the grounds clean and manicured."

Lawn Care questions, answered by experts

Starting a mowing business can be profitable if you manage your business wisely, calculate costs accurately, and invest in time-efficient, high-quality equipment. With good customer service, you can lock in loyal customers who invest in weekly lawn care services that turn your business into a successful one.

Lawn care businesses can earn anywhere from $40,000 to over $100,000 per year depending on how you operate, but you’ll need to factor in the cost of equipment to determine your actual profit margins.

In general, expect to mulch your leaves about once or twice every fall. You want there to be a decent amount of leaves on the ground, but not too much where it’s difficult for the mower to cut through.

In general, cool-season grasses such as fescue grass, ryegrass, and Kentucky bluegrass are best for creating a striped lawn. Warm-season grasses like bermuda and zoysia grass don't curl as much, so grass stripes aren't as easy to see. If you live in a climate that’s better suited for warm-season grass, zoysia grass will typically be your best option.

Ticks prefer tall grass and seek out shady and moist areas. So, in some instances a no-mow lawn may increase tick population in your yard. This scenario is not ideal if you spend lots of time in your yard or if you have pets. If you spray pesticide then this can also harm the pollinators. However, you can make a DIY tick killer with more natural ingredients to avoid using toxic chemicals.

You should wait about seven to 10 days after you top dress your lawn to mow. This will give the ground ample time to absorb the nutrients from the sand, topsoil, and compost, and help facilitate growth before you trim the existing grass. It’s also best to water the lawn frequently in the week or so after you top dress and before you mow.
