However, the workers put the first row of shingles across the entire front of the house exactly up to the edge, without any overhang at all. When Mr. Maxwell removed the old gutters, he pointed the error out to me, called the roofing contractor, and sent him pictures. The roofers came back the same day and added a row of shingles to fix the problem. Mr. Maxwell could have just installed the gutters and not said anything. Clearly he lost time ensuring that the roof was fixed so I wouldn't have problems later on, but It was important to him that all the work be done properly.
