It all started with a single employee back in 1992. There was just the owner, Josh Broughton, a truck, and a simple fumigation system. Back then only cockroach extermination services were available. But as the years added on, other forms of insects were added onto the roster. Next was termites, as that usually merits fast response from homeowners. Nowadays Father and Son Pest Control can take on any problem no matter what the species.

"7/2019. Found evidence of carpenter ants chewing up our window sill/frame. Called Randy on Sunday night and left a message. He was at our home the next day (before noon) and treated our house. FAST!! So pleased he came out soooo quickly. FYI. He had treated our house 2 yrs prior because we had seen ants near the house. This time they were actively chewing our window frame; guestimating for a month."

Pied Piper (formerly Paratex Pied Piper) is a full service Pest Control Company. Alaska owned, started in 1965, covering all of the State. Our service people are covered by Worker's Comp while on your premises (unlike "owner operators and subcontractors)! We carry a minimum of 4 times the State Mandated Liability Insurance.

"I was very satisfied."

Pest Control questions, answered by experts

Moles live underground and feed on insects. They dig and move through tunnels, usually in meadows or forests but sometimes in lawns and gardens. They are about 6 inches long with large claws, tiny eyes, and hidden ears.

Shrews do not dig their own tunnels but will use other animals’ tunnels, and are about 3 to 4 inches long. They look similar to mice and feed on insects.

Voles are similar in size to moles but have large eyes and small but visible ears. Rather than eating insects, voles are herbivores that prefer seeds, grasses, and plant roots.

If you’re having trouble with your traps, first examine them for flaws that would allow a squirrel to escape easily, such as loose doors or hinges. It’s also important to consider the location of your trap: Place it in areas with higher squirrel traffic, and make sure it’s on a sturdy surface so it can’t wobble or tip (squirrels aren’t likely to walk in a trap that isn’t stable). Lastly, try changing out your bait—in-shell peanuts or peanut butter often work best.

Unlike termites, flying ants won’t cause structural damage to your home. Plus, they won’t sting or bite you. However, they are a nuisance and unsanitary to keep in your home, so it’s best to hire a pest control company to remove the flying ants from your house.

Pets scratching or grooming excessively, visible fleas on pets, or red spots on the skin signal a potential infestation needing action.

In addition to a clean home, fleas dislike oils made from plants that are naturally bug-resistant or poisonous to bugs. That includes myrtle, mint, eucalyptus, and especially cedar oil. Common household remedies like baking soda, garlic and apple vinegar don’t have any effect on fleas. Don’t spray essential oils directly on your own skin or your pets (and their bedding, because it can be a skin irritant. Stay away from tea tree oil. In pure form it can be very toxic to pets. Always ask your vet if you have any questions.
