DO NOT LEAVE YOUR PET HERE! On 12/4/18 our dog Salty was killed while being boarded here. The full report is available through Animal Control case #A18-0007146. As the investigation report states, there were 8+ dogs placed in the backyard of Animal Daycare and Boarding unsupervised and left on their own from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. The backyard was unlit and due to the time of year it was dark outside. There were no video cameras that access the back area. As the owner of the kennel stated her "granddaughters unexpectedly stopped by at 3 p.m. and she was inside the home during this period. The other attendant (William) was in the garage area during this period." It was not until approximately 5 p.m. when the owner heard something outside and, in her words, "went to check it out". She states that she "called the dogs but they didnt respond." She "went outside where she saw one of them carrying something and shaking it." April said that she "thought what the dogs had was a stuffed toy" and that she "didn't recognize the 'toy' was a dog until she got back in the house" Our dog Salty was a fifteen-year-old, neutered, Bichon Frise. His hearing was beginning to fade as was his eyesight, yet he was very healthy and full of energy and love to play. He weighed about 13lbs when soaking wet. All of the other dogs which were placed in the backyard along with him were bigger breeds such as Kuvasz, Bear Dog, Shepherd, Labs, and Husky. These dogs weighed from 40 to 100 pounds with the exception of one small Bulldog. As documented in the investigation, we (the owners of Salty) stressed our concerns on several occasions that Salty be kept separate from larger dogs as we were concerned for his safety. The owner of Animal Daycare & Boarding, April, assured us that she would keep Salty inside her home and that she would keep a close eye on him to ensure his safety. Animal Daycare and Boarding's intake/contract states "We will supervise your pet looking out for his or her safety and well-being". However, due to their neglect and callous disregard for Salty's safety and well-being this did NOT happen. Instead our little dog was left vulnerable to fend for himself in a dark, unlit, unsupervised backyard, accompanied by much larger dogs. Unlike in AD&B's reply to this review, this entire situation could have been prevented had the owners taken some basic precautions.

I have been taking my dog Abby to April and William since I adopted her at 4 months of age. Abby has attended both day care and has been boarded for periods of time. Abby came to me with anxiety and fear. She had significant separation anxiety, fear of men and children and fear of all strangers. From the first time I brought Abby to April and William she has had an excellent experience. Abby bonded with April immediately and was surprisingly comfortable with William. April and William have always provided excellent care and training for Abby. April has gone out of her way to research some of my concerns with Abby and helped me develop strategies and training to address behavioral problems. April has been instrumental in helping me help Abby. I am very impressed with the improvements that April and William have made to the day care and boarding including in floor heat so dogs with arthritis and other ailments are comfortable; agility equipment and the sand box. In the more than four years that Abby has been cared for by April and William she only had one minor injury when she got a very small stone in her eye. April called me immediately and took excellent care of Abby until I arrived. Abby had the object removed and happily returned to day care.
Abby is always extremely excited to see April and William. She is happy to come to day care or boarding and always has a good time. I have referred many people to April and William. I would unconditionally recommend this service to anyone, especially if there is a concern or the dog needs special care. The care is excellent, April is very knowledgeable and willingly researches issues and the rates are reasonable especially for the care the animals receive. It is weren't for April and William I am not sure I would have able to keep Abby. Abby and I are grateful for them.

Dear all,
I found Animal Daycare and Boarding (also on Facebook) on Anggy's list one month before I went on vacation so I scheduled daycare once a week for 3 weeks for my small Australian Labradoodle before I went on a 10-days vacation to the Caribbean.
Those 3 days went great, my puppy loved it. I asked April to send me a couple of emails a day letting me know how well he was adjusting to the place, which she kindly did. During my vacation, April kept me informed of how well my pup was sleeping, eating, drinking, and exercising... My entire vacation went without worries as I felt my dog was always in companion of many dogs and humans to play with.
Did I mention April's place is gorgeous? She let me see the facility and I found it enourmous and I had not doubt my dog was going to have fun. April's philosopy is very different than many other daycare faciliites, each dog's got their own personalities and they get to choose where to sleep... Impresive!
Rates are super affordable compare with other places in Anchorage.
I am very happy to have found Animal Daycare and Boarding right before my vacation, now I have another place to leave my precious puppy in good hands while I am out of town.
