Rico construction did a wonderful job. They showed up quickly to provide an estimate and were able to get started right away. The owner Daybar was very helpful in giving us ideas and following up on our requests. We asked to have the old ceiling plaster (popcorn style) removed, retextured and painted. The job included repainting all rooms in the house. We negotiated to include fire taping and painting the interior of the garage. Everything turned out great! They were courteous, friendly and a very efficient team. We are very happy with the results. We would hire them again if any projects pop up in the future.

I had Daybor (Rico Construction) help with a basement remodel project in March 2024. Their scope involved sheetrock, tape, texture, paint, and trim for three rooms. Hindsight being 20/20, I should have asked more questions to be sure he clearly understood the scope of work. We had several disagreements about what scope was included in his price throughout the project. In my defense, I did ask for a detailed breakdown of the estimate that was provided so that I could verify understanding of the project scope but he would only provide a lump sum price. Besides several negotiations on what was included in the scope during the project (which really wasn't a big deal), there were serious problems with schedule, communication, and quality. Regarding schedule, work began on February 26th and was estimated to be completed in two weeks. Ultimately, work was not completed until April 24th (8+ weeks). Turns out, he hired a subcontractor to perform the sheetrock, tape, and texture. I also learned during the project that this was a subcontractor he had no prior experience with. This work occurred while he was out of state for surgery so he was not able to keep tabs on his subcontracor. This forced me to manage his subcontractor while he was away. Quality was extremely poor including inadequate fastening, damaged areas of sheetrock, poor finished surface, and poor tape adhesion. Ultimately, I asked the subcontractor to leave and gave Daybor the opportunity to correct the problems after his return. Daybor ultimately corrected the fastening, and tape adhesion issues to satisfaction. However, Daybor made an attempt to correct the poor finishing but this ended with a pretty poor result. Areas where he attempted to correct the finish show as obvious patches in the finished product. Trim installation was also executed poorly. Trim around doors was installed with zero reveal and several miters are not flush which he attempted to correct with putty. Painting was also poorly executed. The floors were not cleaned prior to spraying paint which resulted in debris embedded in the paint in areas. There were several areas that had thin coverage that had to be corrected after I identified them. The top of the trim above the doors was not cleaned prior to painting and lack adequate coverage. There were several areas on the walls and ceiling which had thin coverage that had to be corrected after I identified them. Some of these areas were not corrected, even though I identified them, prior to Daybor leaving the project. I suppose I could have called him back but I was done asking for him to correct work. Lastly, I guess Daybor was having problems with his paint sprayer one day. While he was trying to clean the sprayer he got white paint overspray all over my wife's black car (front bumper, quarter panel, hood, mirror, and windshield). A little elbow grease and I got it off but still... come on. I didn't really need another problem. Overall experience was not good and unfortunately I cannot recommend Rico Construction sheetrock, paint, or trim work.

I recently hired Rico Construction to handle the exterior painting of my home, and I couldn’t be more thrilled with the results. From start to finish, their professionalism was unmatched. Rico Construction AK a poor job of painting the house. They did minimal prep work...sanding, caulking and priming. The didn’t sand or prime any of the window trim prior to painting. The first coat of paint was sprayed. From there Rico had inexperienced workers paint with rollers. They missed spots, globed paint in other areas and completely missed the top of the second story. This was due to the fact that the didn’t have the proper ladders to reach those areas. On specific area is wall adjacent to the garage. The only way to access is from the garage roof which has a very steep pitch. The ladders supplied to the workers could not accommodate that task or the back wall behind house. When we addressed our satisfaction in those and many more areas as we walked around the house with the project supervisor (company owner) his response was always, “No worries we will fix.” They painted the window trim prior to scrapping and sanding. Painted over flaking and peeling paint. Several Coates because as the paint wasn’t sticking. When I brought this issue up to the supervisor, he said he would go back and sand window trim and repaint. He himself did minimal sanding to several of the lower windows, not all and none of the upper windows and windows on second floor of house. His skilled workers then went out and painted all windows including those that were not sanded and prepped..thick coats of paint again. When they were done...all of our windows were painted shut. We again brought this to their attention, but after they were cut free as the windows were opened, the thick paint job pulled chunks of paint off the trim requiring touch up. The worker assigned to the task of touch up then proceeded to again paint thr windows shut with a roller brush. Had we not brought to the project supervisor he would have proceeded to paint the shut again. We feel this company did a poor job of supervising his crew. They are inexperienced and need some mentoring. They were all very polite but at the end of the day not experienced. There are section of the house that look like they were poorly painted (very noticeable), several areas that were never caulked (very noticeable), and areas were blobbed paint. The garage man door was spray painted the color of the house...door knob, dead bolt lock and all. It was also painted shut and still to this day. Note: the supervisor spray painted the house. Note: this door was not in contract to paint. The two door that were on the contract were not painted. We wrote a letter addressing our issues and his resolution was to give us another estimate for an additional $2500.00. We already had to buy the third color for the house that he neglected to purchase...cost us an additional $375.00. The three colors for the house was discusses both times with the project supervisor when we walked down prior to his estimate. In the end, Rico Construction AK offered to come back out to “DO THE JOB RIGHT”... his words not ours...for $2500.00 additional dollars. Why didn’t they do it right the first time? This was a hard quote. We need our house repainted by professionals. There are too many problem with this paint job. This company did us a disservice and as a result, will have to hire another company to do the job right. We are not confident in this companies abilities to do right by us. We honestly feel as though we were taken advantage of us.

Excellent job. The crew worked whenever there were sunny breaks in the weather and completed the job in a timely manner. Rico Construction is well run and very professional!

Rico Construction started when they said they would, finished when they said they would, and did a quality job at a fair price. I would absolutely recommend.

The Rico team did such a quality job for me! They were meticulous, responsive and easy to work with. Due to the cold temperatures and the difficulty of removing paint from siding, the job took longer, but the result was worth it. I would not hesitate to use them again.

Good prep work, it's nice to see that. Two coats of paint, rolled on, and the corners caulked. All done very well, pleased with the results. Nice job of cleaning up. Timely, they stick real close to the schedule they give you. Good communication, quick response with phone, text or email. Friendly, upbeat owner and crew. I'll use them again in a heartbeat, and I'm comfortable recommending them.

Pros: Prompt estimates, scheduling & communication. Reasonable price & deposit. Crew was friendly, worked hard & spent long hours prepping. Cons: Owner could improve quality control by inspecting job when crew finishes. Owner had to come back twice before final payment to touch up a few places on fascia that weren’t scraped of old peeling paint & caulk top of slider & window that had been overlooked.

Rico was great. He and his crew were quick and efficient. Would highly recommend him. He had the quote ready quickly and project completely done within a week of me calling him.

Overall, we were quite satisfied. I would actually rate the job as an A-/B+. They were very competitive in price, showed up on time, worked hard, worked around our schedules and requests, and cleaned up as much as they could each night. Our only complaint was that there were a considerable number of paint 'spots' on the trim and other areas that were supposed to be protected by tape. Apparently, the tape was not pressed into place correctly. I pointed out a couple of the more obvious areas, which were addressed, the remainder were not. This was not a deal-breaker, but something to be aware of.

Rico and his crew provided prompt and courteous service. In addition to a paint job, they put in new laminate flooring and other repairs. The flooring was tricky due to a curved design and transition. They did a great job! Our home looks beautiful and modern now. They responded quickly to requests and clarifications. Be very clear on what you want painted and what materials are included (paint or flooring). They met the timeline we asked for and left everything clean and tidy. They worked hard and their estimate was a good value. Thank you Rico.

Rico and his crew did a fabulous job at my home. They were fast, affordable, and worked hard to answer my questions and meet my needs. They kept the worksite clean and worked to prevent mess and damage. They were super friendly to my family and I loved having them over. I would hire them again and I would recommend them wholeheartedly.

Very pleased, because of poor weather condition was able to work when there was a break in rain, job was completed as promised. Very much appreciated attention to detail. When the home was completed, we received before and after photographs of the entire home. Excellent touch again showing attention to detail. Job well done, extremely professional every step of the way.
