Big Dog Construction LLCI can't say enough about this contractor! The work was amazing and they did everything they said they'd do, when they said they'd do it, and everyone I worked with there from the office manager on out was terrific. They can do anything from plumbing to electrical to building barn door fixtures, which means you don't need to find anybody else after you call them. What I loved most was they brought their own ideas, and because of this, I have a nice, spacious laundry room/mud room/garage entry area where once there was a very narrow passage where you could barely squeeze past the washer to get out the garage door - but they were able to see the space laid out in a different way, and now it's both functional and beautifully designed. ALSO - the fireplace was just an in-wall gas fireplace with a marble surround flat to the wall around it, with a very narrow plain white mantle high up on the wall - no hearth or anything -and these guys built me a brand new white brick fireplace with a rustic mantle based on a Pinterest picture I showed them - way more than I expected and exactly what I wanted! Best of all, they knew I had these lamps I wanted to put on the mantle, so they built hidden electrical outlets flat into the mantle, next the wall, so I don't have wires hanging down and you can't even see the cords - I hadn't even asked for that, but that's the kind of thing they think about when they're building. Everyone on the team seems to have a good design sense, and I remember a couple of times when they saved me from poor decisions by asking me to come look at something before they finished the install, just because they thought something might look better a different way, and they were right. From a project management perspective, I had up-front pricing on all work, and as I added projects along the way, I was given pricing for the additional work as well. Receipts for payments included a running total of all projects they were doing with original pricing as well a list of all payments made - there was never any confusion about balances owed or paid, and this made it very easy to budget and manage the cash flow aspect. Big Dog also works with certain companies for things like flooring, windows, and doors, so since I didn't know where to go, they were able to connect me with people in the industry. My townhouse looks completely different from when I moved in, and I love it! I really appreciate the thought and effort Big Dog put into making my house perfect, and I recommend them highly - I'll be calling them again.- Linda S.

Jetmore Fireplace CenterBought a Lopi wood burning fireplace insert from Jetmore and had it installed in March. The insert was back ordered but Jetmore kept me updated with the factory delays. Fair price for installation and Eric the tech was awesome to work with, he even came twice beforehand to look at the fireplace being rebuilt to make sure it would fit before we ordered it. Chimney Needs U.S.AI recently used Chimney Needs USA to install a chimney flue and liner, reinstall a cap which had blown off, repoint a part of the chimney, and apply water proofing. American Chimney ServiceI had contacted a few fireplace design companies to have service performed on the gas fireplace in the home I recently purchased. American Chimney replied promptly to express regrets that they did not service the gas-fired type. It's hard to get a reply from a tradesperson even when they can do the work, so I was happy with the reply. Best Way Chimney installed a damper fixing our chimney a few years ago, somehow the damper was not opening properly and we were not able to use it for Holiday (perhaps because of storm or other reasons). we contacted the company 2 days before X-mass and Mr. Roger who had previously worked on our chimney came the same day and took care of the problem.
