"Aurel was so nice and extremely professional. I called and he came out the next day and inspected my Majestic fireplace insert. He explained everything clearly and told me what the issues were. And he even showed me how to work the darned thing without a remote! Lol! His price was more than reasonable and payment was easy. I will definitely be using this company again! I highly recommend A-Team Chimney and Roofing!"

"These 2 guys were great very professional and kind. They came out and gave an honest quote of what work they thought they thiugh should be done. Of the 4 contractors i had come out to quote me only they actually got on the roof for the quote. They did the job in a day and my chimney both looks great and also no longer has a leak and also has a nice liner to protect my family. The pricing seemed very good and i would highly recommend these giys for any job like this."

"Excellent. I interviewed 6 firms and Certified stood "head and shoulders" above the other firms. Courteous and detailed answers when I called on phone and two workmen, Al and John, arrived on time, explained what they were doing and gave me instructions on how to maintain the unit that was installed. I recommend Certified Chimney wholeheartedly. You will not be disappointed if you use them."

Fireplaces questions, answered by experts

How to light a gas fireplace depends on the particular model of gas fireplace you have in your home. In most cases, you can light gas fireplaces using a control panel, remote, key, or switch. You should reference your fireplace’s manual to see how your unit operates.

Modern gas fireplaces are relatively efficient and don't burn excessive amounts of gas, especially compared to older models. A gas fireplace might use between 10,000 to 40,000 BTUs per hour; the total amount of gas used depends on the fireplace's size, heat output, and how often it's in use. To help keep your running costs down, consider using a thermostat and turning off the fireplace when not needed to minimize gas consumption

Some types of electric fireplaces use more electricity than others. Models that produce 1,500 watts will have more of an effect on your heating bill than 750-watt models.

Electric fireplaces use an average of $1.85 of electricity every eight hours. These minimal operational costs aren’t likely to make a big difference in your electric bill—unless you’re using it as a primary heating source for your home and it’s running most of the time.

Like any other household appliance, electric fireplaces can wear out after about 10 to 20 years. With more frequent use, the parts will wear out quicker, and you may get just 7 to 10 years out of a well-loved electric fireplace. Fortunately, electric fireplaces come with a lower upfront installation cost compared to alternatives like gas, so you can install a replacement for less.

Wood is classified as either hardwood or softwood. For firewood, hardwoods are generally the best choice as they tend to burn longer, hotter, and produce less smoke than softwoods. Recommended hardwoods include oak, hickory, maple, cherry, ash, beech, birch, elm, and walnut. Oak is a particularly good option as it's widely available, slow-burning, and doesn't produce much smoke or sparks. Some woods, like oak, hickory, and cherry, also emit a pleasant scent. It is best to avoid softwoods such as eucalyptus, poplar, and willow, as they create a lot of smoke and have a high moisture content that makes them difficult to light and burn efficiently.
