Plumbing: Previous experience was good and recommended to a neighbor for plumbing work. Requested service and immediately had a time that worked for me. Gentleman called to let me know he was on his way during the period I expected them and showed with no issues. Services performed professionally and friendly. no issues. I'm sure I'll need them again and when I do, expect the same courteous service and professionalism. We are happy with their work. It went very well. Mr. Richardson is always prompt and professional. He also did a great job of replacing my hot water heater a few years ago. He explained what he was doing at every step of the way. He fixed the shower in one of my bathrooms that had been dripping for several years. I had a sink hole in my front yard near the city sewer connection. At my request, he dug it up and after running water through it, determined it was not leaking. The main thing I like about Mr. Richardson is that it is easy to get in touch with him and he shows up when he says he is going to show up

Yesterday afternoon I heard some gurgling coming from my empty bathtub and immediately called C S Hines. They were able to come out within a few hours to empty the tank. I am so glad that they were able to come quickly, because we could not use a toilet, shower or sink in the house. The tank was full and they emptied it quickly and efficiently. I want to thank them for doing an excellent job

Another plumbing company had cut our sewer line and was recommending we hook up to city sewer which would have cost THOUSANDS of dollars. this company pumped out septic tank, found where sewer line was cut and told us there was nothing wrong with our septic system. I would highly recommend.

OK, where to start. We just purchased our house. It was a foreclosure and bought as is. We closed on the house and went up to spend the weekend there and get some painting and cleaning done (we lived about 4 hours away). Upon arriving for the weekend, I noticed an alarm on the septic system control panel. Not knowing anything about septic systems, I looked on the control panel and there was a sticker on the side with Mike's name and company name on it. I called Mike and he immediately knew which house I purchased. He told me the previous owners were having financial difficulty and did not properly maintain the system. They flushed paper towels down the toilet among other things. Additionally, the blower was getting shorted out by the bubbles created in the tank because of the amount of laundry detergent they were using. He recommended repairs to the system, but they did not follow through and asked him to make the minimal amount of repairs required to keep the system working. So needless to say the system was in bad shape when we bought the place. I explained to Mike, that we were leaving Monday morning and would not be back for two more weeks. He came out on Sunday morning (at no charge, well, that is not true, he said it would cost us a cup of coffee, which we had waiting for him) and showed both my wife and myself how the system works, where the components were located, and even showed us pictures he had taken from his previous work on the system. He also gave us an estimate on the work that would be required to fix the system. We asked him to do the work, and asked him if he could complete the job before we moved in in two weeks. He said he would try to rearrange his schedule to complete the work on time but he couldn't promise us anything. Well, Mike managed to complete the job on time. He e-mailed updates and pictures the entire time. He did everything he could to keep the cost down (including driving 3 hours to get the materials instead of having them shipped and charging us the shipping. Mike is a rare find. He is VERY professional, but is VERY personable also. He took a genuine interest in us and getting the job done correctly and on time. He even answered questions we had about the water softener, well system and other things that we had no idea about (we moved from the city, so we have never had any of these systems). I cannot say enough positive things about Mike and Aquarobic Services!!!

"The team was there a few minutes earlier than scheduled, performed initial inspection, gave us a clear and concise explanation of what was needed and how it would be performed. The communication kept going all throughout the job. Before anything new was done, a price was given so there was no chance of being blindsided at the end of the job which we have experienced with other companies. We would most definitely hire this wonderful company again and would highly recently them.

Comfort delivered since 1995 by NATE certified technicians to your residence or business serving the south side of Hampton Roads. Tell 'em Kellam!
"I have just recently moved into the area (Sept 2020) and purchased an older home that needs lots of updating. Not having experience with any vendors in the area, I called Kellam based on a referral. When I bought the home it had an ancient hot water radiator, a tempermental incorrectly installed geothermal system, a water heater from 1991, and lots of Harry Homeowner electrical "fixes". I asked Kellam for an estimate to remove all the old systems, install new gas/AC systems and a tankless hot water heater and clean up the electrical issues. I received a price that was competitive and gave them the work. Kellam did an excellent job with all of the work that I gave them. All through the process, I felt that they were here to solve my problems with whatever it takes instead of maximizing their bottom line. I'm the kind of guy that asks a million questions and in every case the techs were very patient with me and explained all of my questions to my satisfaction. My HVAC system works great, my home is comfortable and I have plenty of hot water. My wife and I are very pleased. In addition to a great installation, one other thing that I want to point out is the way they took care of my electrical issues. Lots of companies don't want to handle jobs like that because they can be difficult to properly correct. Kellam did not hesitate and they not only fixed the issues that I had found but also some others that I didn't know about. In summary if you want a company who acts more like your very competent friend than a soulless vendor, Kellam is your company. The owner, Scott Kellam, actively manages the business, is an old school stand up honest guy and he trains his staff to be the same way. If you use them, I think that you will be pleased.

Replacing a drain field requires digging up quite a bit of land and involves a decent amount of testing. Using this guide, you’ll learn how much it costs to replace a drain field based on a few key factors such as size and type of septic system.
If you’re wondering whether it’s safe to grow plants over your septic tank, the answer is yes, as long as you stick with plants that have shallow root systems to avoid damaging the septic system. Learn the best plants to install over a septic tank.
Answer: There are several signs that indicate your septic tank could be full. These include standing water over your septic tank, a strong odor coming from your yard, gurgling water, slow drains, or a sewage backup. While many of these signs could also be indicative of a clogged system, they should all be checked out by a professional ASAP to avoid costly damages. In the absence of any of these signs, it’s recommended that septic tanks be emptied every 3 to 5 years on average.
How often should a septic tank be serviced?
Answer: On average, septic tanks should be serviced every 3 to 5 years in the absence of any worrying signs that the tank is clogged or full. The size of your septic tank, the number of people living in your home, and your average water usage will all impact how often your septic tank needs to be serviced.
What are the most common causes of septic tank failure?
Answer: The most common cause of septic tank failure is improper maintenance. Failing to pump a septic tank on the appropriate schedule will cause septic tank failure and likely result in a costly septic tank repair or replacement. On average, septic tanks should be pumped every 3 to 5 years, but the size of your tank, the number of people in your home, and your average water usage may shorten or extend this timeframe.
How much does it cost to pump a septic tank?
Answer: The cost to pump a septic tank is $400 on average or about $0.30 per gallon. The size of your septic tank, as well as local labor costs, will impact the cost of pumping your septic tank. Most septic tanks are between 600 and 2,000 gallons in size, meaning the average cost range is between $180 to $600.
How much does it cost to install a septic system?
Answer: The cost to install a septic tank system is between $3,060 and $9,810, on average. The size of the septic tank you choose, the land you’re installing it on, the type of system you choose, and local labor costs will all influence the total cost of installing a septic system. Anaerobic septic tanks (those that don’t need oxygen) typically cost between $3,000 and $8,000. Aerobic systems, which utilize oxygen to activate bacteria and are popular on smaller properties, usually cost between $10,000 and $20,000.
How long does a septic system last?
Answer: When septic systems are well maintained, they can last up to 30 years or more. If a septic system isn’t properly maintained, such as when it isn’t pumped regularly, it may malfunction and require costly repairs or a premature replacement. In general, septic tank pumping is recommended every 3 to 5 years to ensure the septic system lasts as long as possible.
