Hello, The work you sited here is expensive. I have asked you to provide photographs to back up the quote to protect my client. I have not received any. As a result, I decided to get a second opinion. I was present during the inspection which took place this morning. What I learned was alarming. The seller had the tank pumped just a few weeks prior to putting the home on the market. You charged $385 to pump the tank, however the tank was not empty. The house has been vacant since you have been there. You charged a miscellaneous $185 just because. You stated that the distribution box needs to be rebuilt and lid needs to be replaced. Second opinion inspector said it is just fine. No cracks. You said the lines need to be cleaned and wanted to charge a minimum of $2800. The distribution box was "bone dry" when opened and when filled with water from the hose worked as intended. You said the effluent tee needs to be replaced. While it was found to be old replacement was not required. Roots in the box were acknowledged and were treated on site at time of inspection. I am obtaining a clear letter from another company. I have lost trust in ABA. You wanted to charge over $4000 for services not required. I will be sure to tell my story to the 100+ agents that work with me and share my opinions with others in our industry. I think you are horrible horrible human beings for taking advantage of the publics trust just like an unethical auto repair shop. I think your practices are criminal and I don't know how you sleep at night. Please see attached my photographs of unpumped tank, working tee, and an in tack lid

It worked! The cost was a little high, but to fix it the way that he did, I guess he was reasonable. The quality of work is excellent. Well, they didn't show up which kept them from getting the work done in a timely manner.

OK, where to start. We just purchased our house. It was a foreclosure and bought as is. We closed on the house and went up to spend the weekend there and get some painting and cleaning done (we lived about 4 hours away). Upon arriving for the weekend, I noticed an alarm on the septic system control panel. Not knowing anything about septic systems, I looked on the control panel and there was a sticker on the side with Mike's name and company name on it. I called Mike and he immediately knew which house I purchased. He told me the previous owners were having financial difficulty and did not properly maintain the system. They flushed paper towels down the toilet among other things. Additionally, the blower was getting shorted out by the bubbles created in the tank because of the amount of laundry detergent they were using. He recommended repairs to the system, but they did not follow through and asked him to make the minimal amount of repairs required to keep the system working. So needless to say the system was in bad shape when we bought the place. I explained to Mike, that we were leaving Monday morning and would not be back for two more weeks. He came out on Sunday morning (at no charge, well, that is not true, he said it would cost us a cup of coffee, which we had waiting for him) and showed both my wife and myself how the system works, where the components were located, and even showed us pictures he had taken from his previous work on the system. He also gave us an estimate on the work that would be required to fix the system. We asked him to do the work, and asked him if he could complete the job before we moved in in two weeks. He said he would try to rearrange his schedule to complete the work on time but he couldn't promise us anything. Well, Mike managed to complete the job on time. He e-mailed updates and pictures the entire time. He did everything he could to keep the cost down (including driving 3 hours to get the materials instead of having them shipped and charging us the shipping. Mike is a rare find. He is VERY professional, but is VERY personable also. He took a genuine interest in us and getting the job done correctly and on time. He even answered questions we had about the water softener, well system and other things that we had no idea about (we moved from the city, so we have never had any of these systems). I cannot say enough positive things about Mike and Aquarobic Services!!!

The repairman was on time and very professional. Quickly completed the repair. He noticed the toilet was making a strange noise. He asked permission to look inside the tank. Found the problem and made the adjustment - no charge.

I was very pleased with the service. I called the day before and the woman I spoke with was very nice and when I explained the problem I've been having said she would send someone the next day instead of four days later. I would definitely use this company again.

We contacted him on the advice of a friend. Even though there was a negative review here, we went with our friend's recommendation. We are happy to say David was early for the appointment, professional, answered all of our questions and explained how our septic system works. He also took the time and effort to place the soil on a tarp and you can't even tell they were here. We highly recommend him

Five stars!!! Professional experts who are on time! Very hard to find. While on site Dave was able to show me some the system in detail on a house built in the 70's. Highly recommend this locally owned family business.

Septic Tank Service FAQ

  1. What are the signs your septic tank is full?

Answer: There are several signs that indicate your septic tank could be full. These include standing water over your septic tank, a strong odor coming from your yard, gurgling water, slow drains, or a sewage backup. While many of these signs could also be indicative of a clogged system, they should all be checked out by a professional ASAP to avoid costly damages. In the absence of any of these signs, it’s recommended that septic tanks be emptied every 3 to 5 years on average.

  2. How often should a septic tank be serviced?

Answer: On average, septic tanks should be serviced every 3 to 5 years in the absence of any worrying signs that the tank is clogged or full. The size of your septic tank, the number of people living in your home, and your average water usage will all impact how often your septic tank needs to be serviced.

  3. What are the most common causes of septic tank failure?

Answer: The most common cause of septic tank failure is improper maintenance. Failing to pump a septic tank on the appropriate schedule will cause septic tank failure and likely result in a costly septic tank repair or replacement. On average, septic tanks should be pumped every 3 to 5 years, but the size of your tank, the number of people in your home, and your average water usage may shorten or extend this timeframe.

  4. How much does it cost to pump a septic tank?

Answer: The cost to pump a septic tank is $400 on average or about $0.30 per gallon. The size of your septic tank, as well as local labor costs, will impact the cost of pumping your septic tank. Most septic tanks are between 600 and 2,000 gallons in size, meaning the average cost range is between $180 to $600.

  5. How much does it cost to install a septic system?

Answer: The cost to install a septic tank system is between $3,060 and $9,810, on average. The size of the septic tank you choose, the land you’re installing it on, the type of system you choose, and local labor costs will all influence the total cost of installing a septic system. Anaerobic septic tanks (those that don’t need oxygen) typically cost between $3,000 and $8,000. Aerobic systems, which utilize oxygen to activate bacteria and are popular on smaller properties, usually cost between $10,000 and $20,000.

  6. How long does a septic system last?

Answer: When septic systems are well maintained, they can last up to 30 years or more. If a septic system isn’t properly maintained, such as when it isn’t pumped regularly, it may malfunction and require costly repairs or a premature replacement. In general, septic tank pumping is recommended every 3 to 5 years to ensure the septic system lasts as long as possible.
