"Lesson learned. Always get an estimate. BEFORE the work is done. At least a digital copy. Arrangements for the project were made, with some one named Lynn, for the company to send someone to complete the work. We were quoted over the phone 4500-5000 which included a mold test. A sub contractor with an entirely different company (National Mold Company) was sent. When the contractor arrived, he stated that the job would be much more simpler than first thought. This led us to believe that the job would cost less, no. All said and done, they charged $5500. All said and done, it's almost like no work was done. The stains and the smell are still there. Only one actual board was taken upon the attic room. The ceiling in the bedroom was primed and painted but are still visible and have a funky smell. At this point I'm going to. Do what we should have done; Do the job ourselves. Just now with $5500 less dollars in our pockets. A detailed receipt was not given even though it was requested."

If you are concerned about the possibility you have mold in your home or see evidence of mold growth, contact us immediately! We have experienced Certified Mold Inspectors (CMI #81281) who will come in and do a complete inspection of your home or business. We are positioned to provide an assessment of the indoor air quality or environmental quality concern of private homes, commercial buildings and institutional complexes. If necessary, we will take air samples in the area of concern to determine the levels of contamination. If visible mold is present, we can do surface testing to determine the species of mold. Testing samples are sent to a non-affiliated leading environmental testing firm and test results are back after 48 hours.* After a review of laboratory results from samples taken while onsite and from our visual inspection, we can recommend and refer you to proper mold remediation companies that can correct the issue if deemed necessary. Your safety is our main concern and to the best of our ability, we will be there to help you have “The Safest Air You Can Breathe!” Your peace of mind is our best reward.

"Absolutely phenomenal Robert and Cindy are amazing to work with and make sure that the client is also educated which is extremely important in today’s modern age!"

Family owned and operated Father and son company with over 50+years of experience in the trade. We also sub-contract workers which are friends and family who specialize in the job we are working on, for instance we have 2 roofers in the family who we only use for roofing, 1 plumber, three carpenters for framing and deckbuilding and we use these people on larger jobs where we need more people than just my Father and me. We have worked together for the last 12 years for a couple different employers and to be truthful my Father should have started his own company years ago. However he hasnt done this because he isn't very computer savy and hates paperwork. We do free estimates as long as your within a reasonable distance from our shop, and if your further away we usually charge a small trip charge to come out and give an estimate.Once you have recieved the estimate and if you decide to have the work done we will ask for the price of the materials plus 10% down and the rest of the balance upon completion of the job, sometimes for larger jobs we will ask for draws on the balance but this is always discussed upfront and written into a contract. Please dont hesitate to ask for anything you need, We have many references and we would love to gain many more from Angie's list. Thanks sincerely, Jacob Williams and James (Lewis) Palmer

- What sets me apart from other top inspectors is rather than spending 2-1/2 to 3 hrs. merely documenting the home's structure, systems, and components, and identifying deficiencies and potential problems; I focus upon teaching you about the home. Yes, it will be me, not a (surprise) employee, who will be serving you. Rather than simply enabling you to make informed decisions regarding your contract to purchase, I am enabling you to understand the specifics of your future home, which thereby enable me to teach you how to operate its systems most efficiently, reduce your energy costs, and how to maintain your home and protect your investment. You needn’t ask if you can accompany me and ask questions — I will arrive about an hour before you to set up my program, and document exterior conditions. Upon your arrival we will enter, conduct a detailed orientation, then inspect the home together. During which I’ll explain everything and answer any questions you may have. When we’ve completed inspecting, we’ll review the draft of the upcoming report, so you’ll know what issues will be in the report before we leave. Please be prepared to spent 4 hours with me. Why hire an inspector whose services merely meet Licensing and Certification minimum requirements which focus only upon protecting your contractual needs by identifying deficiencies and concerns? When for the same investment, you can participate in an LBI Education Inspection which in addition to providing you with a more comprehensive report, also teaches you all about the property, answers your questions, and provides a report created to serve as an informative manual similar to what is in the glove box of your vehicle.

""Mark was AMAZING! I know so much about my new home. He paid attention to detail and answered every question I had with no problem. I would call him for help again with no hesitation.""

For more than 60 years, ’58 Foundations & Waterproofing has provided the highest-quality basement waterproofing, crawlspace encapsulation, radon mitigation, mold removal and foundation repair solutions for homes and commercial properties. We lead with a promise of Trusted Five-Star Service, which means the customer experience is at the center of everything we do. Since 1958, we have been steadfast in keeping this promise and in upholding the values on which '58 Foundations was built: trust, teamwork, integrity, respect and communication. This comes across in all that we do: from the initial call to job completion, our customers are met with a knowledgeable, caring, and professional staff prepared to offer a five-star experience that is unmatched in the home repair industry.

"If you’re considering 58 Foundations, do yourself a favor and stop right now. I cannot, in good conscience, recommend this company to anyone—let alone friends or family. Their complete disregard for accountability is nothing short of infuriating. At first, things appeared to go smoothly. The workers were professional, and the workmanship seemed decent. But the illusion of competence quickly disintegrated when it came time for the building inspection. The city inspector requires a letter from the project engineer verifying that the work is safe, sound, and compliant with code. 58 Foundations flat-out refuses to provide this basic validation of their work. Why won’t they stand behind their project? Are they hiding shoddy, substandard work? As a homeowner, I’m now saddled with the mess of an open permit and no resolution in sight. This is unacceptable. If a company won’t back their work with a simple letter, what does that say about their integrity—or lack thereof? Didn't expect this kind of run around from a well established professional firm, save yourself the frustration and inevitable regret. Choose a company that honors their commitments and respects their customers. Once upon a time, 58 Foundations may have been reputable, but their crumbling standards are now painfully obvious. Don’t let their negligence become your problem."

Radon Detection and Reduction questions, answered by experts

To determine whether you have radon in your home, you must run a test. Radon gas has no odor or color, so you won’t notice a concentration of radon. You could purchase a DIY test at a local hardware store, but it may not deliver completely trustworthy results. The best way to test and receive accurate results is to hire a local radon detection specialist.

It is worthwhile to get radon testing done, especially if you haven’t in the past and don’t have active radon monitoring set up in your home. According to the American Lung Association, radon is a potential issue in all states, and testing is the best way to determine if it’s a current problem in your home. Radon testing includes professional tests that determine ongoing radon levels in your property, and it usually includes a mitigation protocol to help you decide what measures to take to protect your home and household members.

Your radon fan needs to operate 24/7 to be effective. The only time the fan isn't operating is during its replacement. Radon levels in the home can increase within hours if the fan stops working or something obstructs the stack vent. Fortunately, radon systems require no downtime maintenance between fan changes.

Avoid opening windows and keep doors closed during testing to obtain accurate readings.

The soil beneath your house is most likely what’s causing an increased level of radon. This is because soil holds radioactivity for a long time and it’s also what most buildings are built on. Another common source of radon is water from a source that hasn’t been through periodic radon tests, such as well water. Over time, the radon from the soil can inhabit other parts of your house like the foundation or plumbing.
