"Mine was relatively small job . Added a 4' x 11' concrete to existing patio. HOWEVER, what's important to note is the expertise and quality of this contractor. Very easy to work with, he was receptive of minor changes that wee needed. I felt so confident in his skills that I hired him for two other small job while he was here. I highly recommend Mike for most any job."

"The crew was so polite . The project looks great! No matter what I asked them to do they acomplished the task. My house was damaged by woodpeckers and they had to repair that damage before they could start. All suggestions by Anthony and Karen were wonderful. My house looks brand new!!! "We hired Ed to replace a damaged section of drywall ceiling in one of the bedrooms in our house.  He came out quickly to give an estimate, started and finished the work when he said he would, and was very pleasant to deal with.  We were very happy with the results, and he stayed at the low end of his original estimate.  He even painted the finished job, which hadn't been part of our arrangement -- it was a big help to us.  We'll definitely hire him again.

Subcontractors questions, answered by experts

If your project is complex, it may make sense to hire an architect to draw plans. An architect might also be a good person to hire if you want to ensure your plans adhere to building codes and regulations.

Blueprints are generally available for houses built after the early 1900s. Before then, detailed building schematics like blueprints were rarely used and even more rarely saved. If you have an older house and need blueprints, you can have a new set drawn up by an architect or draftsperson.

Yes, you can draw your own deck plans in many cases. However, you must know your local building codes and be familiar with carpentry principles. Even then, it's always best to run your plans by a professional contractor with experience building decks, whether you choose to DIY some of the build or not.

Regular meetings, reviewing drafts, and providing input on materials help align the project with your vision.

Mid-century modern architecture was a popular home style throughout the U.S. from the 1950s to 1970s. Most homes feature a wide and symmetrical floor plan with low-sloped roofs and floor-to-ceiling windows. Its minimalism and balanced appearance are back on the home style scene, particularly when maximizing sunlight, airflow, and a blend with the home's natural surroundings.
