I am a young business owner and brand new father! I have worked all over the construction industry from a young age and became a licensed plumber before I finished highschool. The name “One man” Freelancing was inspired by my service in the WV national guard where I still currently serve as the “one man” a term given to the cannon crewmember who loads and fires the artillery cannons. I have a broad range of knowledge and problem solving skills, if I don’t know how to do the job I will surely be able to learn and you will not be disappointed with results!

"I called C&A Tree Service to trim and remove dead branches from a large pin oak tree in my front yard. The personnel performed the work in a skilled and professional manner and were very courteous. They worked efficiently, used a grinder to take care of the large branches, and cleaned up the yard after the branches were removed. Cleanup included removal of a pile of leaves that I had left behind from the fall season. This work was done at a reasonable cost. I definitely recommend this company for tree services and will not hesitate to use them again. Thanks for your hard work."

"This crew worked really hard. We had two trees removed that we were concerned may eventually fall on our neighbors home, these were huge trees. The work took about a week and the crew cut, chipped and hauled off debris. Even worked while it rained! Our neighbor had one taken out as well while the crew was here. I would most definitely recommend this company to anyone in need of tree removal."

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

Stay inside or well away until the storm passes. Don’t go outside to inspect the tree until the weather clears, especially if the tree is on a hill or isolated in a field. Lightning often strikes the same easily-accessed places multiple times, and you could be a new target. If a lightning strike causes a noticeable fire, alert emergency services. When the storm is over, take a closer look to gauge the damage done.

No. Topping a tree refers to severely cutting down all its major branches and tree in a straight line. It was once recommended for streetside deciduous trees but has fallen out of practice. Topping leads to many problems, removing so much of the tree that many trees struggle to survive and become much more vulnerable to insects and diseases. Also, it doesn’t really help tree growth as once assumed and often leads to an ugly appearance of many sprouting stems in competition to become new main branches.

The best way is to start controlling tree height long before it grows too large, via careful pruning through the years. But that’s not always possible. If a tree has become too high or too large, use selective pruning to remove the most troublesome branches, one by one, without topping the tree. Gently shaping a tree like this can, over time, correct problems. You can also find growth inhibitors to spray on a tree to stop it from growing too rapidly, but use these sparingly if at all.

Though summer is not ideal, you can do some light pruning during this time of year. Just make sure it’s not excessive. Vigorous pruning will stress the tree and impact next year’s growth. Generally, August to September are the best summer-pruning months, particularly for fruit trees.

Cutting down a tree next to power lines is never a DIY job, and it’s a good idea to contact your utility company first. In most cases, the utility company will need to take care of any tree problems within 10 to 15 feet of power lines. If you want to remove the tree for aesthetic reasons, hire a pro to do the job. Trying to cut trees near power lines yourself can create many safety hazards, and you could be liable if you inadvertently cause damage to electrical equipment.
