"We could not have been happier. From start to finish the process was smooth and easy. I started out thinking I needed some roofing repair and by the time it was all said and done I had a lot more damage than I could see. Long story short, I have a new roof and new siding and my house is amazing. Buckshot answered the call and then some with friendly and experienced representatives. Top notch and couldn't be happier!!!"

We provide commercial and residential roof services. Our goal is to deliver the highest quality materials and workmanship to our customers. We believe a satisfied customer is the backbone of a company. We will work with our customers to achieve the results they expect at a price they can afford.

"This company charged an elderly couple that lived in a different state $44,000 to replace a flat roof in Two Rivers. After inspecting the roof for a few minutes it was clear that none of the decking the customer paid for to have replaced was actually replaced. It was still spongy and rotten under the new membrane. Unfortunately they lived in a different state and were unable to see the finished product before they paid their invoice."

Siding questions, answered by experts

You can put new siding over clapboards, but it’s not recommended. Some sidings, like vinyl siding, can go over clapboards with sheathing like a foam layer in between. However, it’s best to remove clapboard siding if you plan on replacing it with new siding. Burying wood clapboards underneath new siding can create risks of rot and mold, or hidden insect damage. It can also create warping issues over time. Removing clapboards allows you to properly install a new sheathing, as well as clean up the exterior wall and look for any signs of damage.

A self-etching primer is the best option for aluminum siding. These are specifically designed to bond with bare metals, among other surfaces, leading to better adhesion and corrosion resistance. An oil-based primer is a good alternative if you can’t find a self-etching primer.

The lifespan of vertical siding depends on the type of material used and whether it’s properly maintained. For instance, vinyl siding can last between 20 and 30 years, while fiber cement siding can last up to 50 years. Remember that the type you choose will depend on how much maintenance it will require to prolong its longevity.

Traditionally, you place a layer of ⅜-inch foam board beneath aluminum siding. This gives you a smooth surface to which you can fasten the trim and siding. Beneath the foam board, you should have some kind of waterproof sheathing to further protect your home from water damage. It’s possible this sheathing is already under your current siding.

On average, siding lasts between 20 and 40 years. Most of the common materials used in siding—vinyl and wood siding—can last around 30 years if taken care of. Upscale options like stone, brick, and aluminum can last up to 100 years or more but will cost much more to purchase and aren’t as simple to install.
