I bought two ProVia storm doors from Hoffman Weber, to be installed at a cost of just over $5000.00 for the pair. It’s an astronomical amount, but according to reviews, these were supposedly the best doors out there. I waited seven weeks for the doors to be delivered. My front door is acceptable as installed and works well, although the added “Art Glass” design looks pretty cheesy, as if I had added it to the pane of glass myself with a plastic paint pen, instead of having the decoration “professionally” applied. Hoffman Weber had no actual photos of the “art glass” decorations. I chose the design from line drawings only. On the other hand, the second door that I ordered is completely unacceptable, and I will be replacing it with a different door from a different company. The chief requirement for this door was that it be able to accommodate a pet door. I had lengthy discussions with the sales staff before agreeing to order the ProVia door, and I was assured that they could deliver what I needed. The first door delivered was a half-light door, although I was told that a custom ¾-light door would be sent with a pet door already installed. The door was sent back, seven weeks after it had been ordered. When Hoffman Weber contacted me with a new spec for reordering the door, I was told that ProVia could NOT provide what I asked for. At the time, I agreed to order a 3/4-light door without a pet door, and install an after market pet door myself. I waited another seven weeks for the replacement door to come in. However, when it arrived, it became apparent that this second door is completely unsuitable for installing a pet door. While it's called a 3/4 light door, it's actually more like a 7/8 light door, with the bottom panel being much too small to fit a pet door of any size. I asked before ordering this door what the dimensions of the bottom panel would be, stating that I’d need at least 16” of panel in which to put the pet door. I never received any response to my inquiry. The door was ordered in standard dimensions. It will not work for its intended purpose and will need to be replaced yet again. In addition, the window slide on the replacement door arrived broken, with a six inch strap of sharp, heavy metal protruding from the frame when the window was raised. After weeks of inquiries, ProVia eventually sent someone to fix the defect, but in the process of replacing the slide, made several cuts in the door frame. The door is back together and the window now slides up and down, but the structural integrity of the door has been compromised. The door also arrived with several nicks and scratches already present in the exterior paint, and with the wrong lock on the handleset. I communicated all this to my contact at Hoffman Weber, and have yet to have my concerns addressed. It has been nearly five months since I put in the original order, and I still do not have a back door that works for me. While I have paid off the balance of my contract, I am extremely unhappy with the service and the product that I have received.

I got three bids on my window wrapping project and went with Hoffman Weber because the sales guy promised they would do all the details I wanted, get storm windows where I needed them, and do the project fairly early in the summer since I needed more work done once the wraps were finished. Their proposed time for the work came and went, and I heard nothing. Finally, a few weeks later, I contacted them and they had someone come out to do color matching and order supplies. It took about a week to contact them, since apparently no one there responds to emails, texts, or voice mail, and I had to call their head office a couple times to finally get anyone to respond. I could never get anyone to respond to anything within a week of my contacting them. I never received basic updates like when the project would start, whether materials had been ordered, unless I tried to contact them repeatedly for at least a week. In the end, the work started almost 3 months after they said it would. None of the custom details I had been promised were done, since apparently this information was never passed on to the subcontractors, and the workers at my house said they couldn't do the work when I asked them about it. My storm windows I needed were never ordered, and now I'm contacting a window company on my own to do it and will have to hope for no bad rain in the meantime. The wrapping done by the actual subcontractors was great. I wish I could've just worked with them instead of getting misled and stonewalled by Hoffman Weber all summer.

I am very pleased with the final outcome of the project, but the process timelines and initial estimates from the sales team were disappointing. Pros: Project Manager: The assigned PM was incredibly patient and thorough, ensuring all details and the final punch list were addressed. Crew: The crew was detailed-oriented and highly skilled. Cons: Sales Team Timelines: The initial timeline provided was unrealistic. The sales team promised 2 weeks to start and 2 weeks to complete, which was far from reality. This can be misleading, especially for first-time customers. Process Optimization: Approval Delays: After the initial payment, there is an approval process that takes 1-2 weeks. PM Assignment and Walkthrough: Once the PM is assigned, they conduct another walkthrough, validate against the sales quote, place orders, and wait for timelines. Our project included a special order from Canada which caused a 2-month delay. Additional orders during the project had a turnaround of about a week. The initial delay's cause (whether the special order or crew) remains unclear. Overall: Despite the process delays and timeline issues, I am very pleased with the final outcome. The quality of work has been praised by neighbors and friends.

AJ diagnosed the cause of our ceiling damage after we received widely different opinions from multiple estimators. He performed the most critical vent replacement the same day, and his crew was able to complete the remaining work a few days later. Very thorough and professional. We are happy with their responsiveness and approach to the work.

Hoffman went above and beyond to replace my roof following hail damage. State Farm initially agreed to replace a small portion. Hoffman documented and chalk marked damage. State Farm replaced entire roof! Job was completed professionally and timely. Thanks

My experience with Hoffman Weber was initially positive but turned negative very quickly. The work (complete re-roof) that was performed was sub-standard and water penetrated around the chimney causing damage to the ceiling. At the time of submitting the issue I was notified that Hoffman Weber sub-contracted the entire job contrary to what I was told during the sales call. After months of working with the sub and Hoffman they finally arranged repair. It should be noted, Hoffman Weber on multiple occasions did not respond to emails or return calls. Once the repairs started, Hoffman failed to communicate a timeline or give advance notice of time workers would be making the repairs. Once again, I emailed Hoffman pleading for a schedule or any communication. At this point, I have received nothing. Finally, I have a lot of experience working with building contractors. The lack of ownership, communication and customer focus is on a level I have never seen. I would warn away others from using this company.
Response from Hoffman Weber Construction
"Hi [Member Name Removed], thank you for reaching out. We would like to apologize that your experience with us did not go as planned. We would also like to apologize for the lack of communication on our end. We strive for perfection, but that is not always the case. When it comes to your project, the leak was coming through a cricket on the chimney that was not in the scope of work. In good faith, we fixed it and covered the cost anyways. We wish you nothing but the best with you and your home going forward."

We needed to replace the siding on our home, had four companies come to our house (three of which were initially found through Angi), and are glad that we used Hoffman Weber to do the job. Their sales associate (Al Lien) was knowledgeable and helpful, but no pressure, which I personally appreciate very much. They had a range of options, and in the end we chose to use HardiPlank which was less expensive than LP at the time of our project. The Hoffman Weber price was very competitive (and significantly lower than the high-pressure company that came out). The installation went well--the crew was hard working and pleasant, and communication with the project manager (Pete) was easy (the installation was done in February, so, weather affected the days of installation). The finished project looks great.

Value I worked with Ryan Youngren at Hoffman Weber Construction for both a full roof replacement and siding. Ryan was personable and very knowledgeable in all aspects, which allowed me to feel confident with my purchase. The process was painless, efficient, and I was pleased with the final look of my home. I couldn't be happier. I will continue to work with Ryan Youngren for all future projects and have passed him off to friends and family!

The whole process from beginning to end was painless as can be. No pressure what so ever. No gimmicks like the others had. No sign today for this deal crap. Pete the project manger was very nice & easy to deal with. Updates were right as things happened as they said it would. Reese & Ryan were our installers. 4 windows & a door. Very pleasant guys! It's an old house so they found a few issues along the way but took care of them. I witnessed MANY extra steps that they were taking along the way & it was really nice to see. Just don't see that much anymore... All in all a great experience! We are very happy with the end result & will for sure hire them again.... The only complaint would be it was pushed out a couple times but what isn't these days....

I would never ever use this company again & I would not recommend others to either. We hired this company to replace two exterior doors and some siding on our home. We were clear that work needed to be done within 2 months as we were preparing to sell our home and had a timeline. The sales person was great - super organized, friendly and professional. He also felt that our timeline wouldn't be a problem as the material we were using was typically stocked. However, once we paid our initial deposit, we did not hear from them for weeks & correspondence went unanswered. It was inferred that our material would be ordered upon deposit receipt and that work would begin within 6 weeks. After many calls, our material was ordered about 5 weeks after deposit submission and then the doors were not due in for 4 more weeks. We ended up purchasing our own doors to get the work started. They were in stock at Menards. Our experience did not get better when work began. They started a day early without our knowledge. A section of siding was removed that we asked them to leave & when I confronted our project manager about it he said he remembered that we didn't want that siding off, but we "will like it better" with it redone. Additionally, because they were a day early, I did not have opportunity to protect my gardens as I planned to do and my Hastas, which were 2 feet from the house, were trampled nearly flat. They also left all the removed siding all over our yard and gardens because the dumpster hadn't been delivered yet when they were there. When the person came to install our doors they cut our doorbell without asking us and lied about it, saying it didn't work anyway (it did). I insisted they fix it and I believe they billed us for the fix, masking it as the fee to re-install 2 exterior lights after the siding was complete: $800 to install 2 lights and then a $400 permit that was never pulled, nor required to be. When we pushed back about the non existent permit they removed that charge, but so far have refused to budge on the $800 bill to re-hang two exterior lights. A huge reason we had the siding done was to cover a former hole where a window AC was. We asked them to fill the hole with insulation before putting the siding on, something that was talked about in the initial consult, and we were told "it would be fine without" that it didn't matter. They were fairly dismissive and disrespectful to us when we spoke up about this. Finally, after many frustrating phone calls and photo texts sent, it was done. We did not receive a single apology for the doorbell cut, the section of siding removed, or our poor experience in general until we went to the office and spoke with the owner. Even then, while he was apologetic, he insisted this was not their way and it was a misunderstanding. This was a consistent message through out as we continually expressed our concerns and frustrations: it was all due to "misunderstanding" or "miscommunication". Not one person took responsibility for the continual frustrations caused or the way we were continually disregarded and mal treated. When our final bill was sent it was not itemized, just a total. They did not remove tasks they opted not to do, nor did they remove the doors they did not use because they would not arrive in time. They also included a charge for the siding section that we asked them not to remove. I know this because the total was exactly the same as our original quote was. I asked for these corrections as well as an itemized bill and after a few weeks I received an itemized bill. As I went through I noted the above $1200 electrical charge was on there as well as a $500 permit fee for a permit that was less than $250. We asked for the electrical invoice to understand these charges and they refused to provide. We are still waiting for the permit to be closed out. I have never spent so much money on services provided by a company that clearly does not respect me or my home. Biggest regret of my renovation and summer was hiring HW.

Not as well as I hoped. The salesman spent time assuring me that there would be a project manager that would stop by every day of work. That did not happen. There were language problems/misunderstandings between the work crew and project manager. We specifically spoke about scheduling issues since the City of North St. Paul is very fussy about overnight parking, weight restrictions, and blocked roads. I made sure they understood that they could not do the work from November - March, since I signed the contract in July of 2020 I did not really think that would be a problem. They called ready to do the work in January of this year, which we had said would not work. Then the work was rescheduled and done in April. When the project manager called in April to say the crew was starting that day, April 5, my husband informed him the garbage bin was not here. The crew worked very hard, some additional insulation was done, and the siding looks great. They cleaned up their tools and mess. The project manager said he would be by to pick up the extra flashing. A month later I still have left over flashing laying in my driveway.

Project Manager Curt did a great job making sure materials and people were delivered on time and ready to work. The roofing crew was great. Curt drove down on a snowy January day to address a concern, fully explaining why I was seeing what I was seeing. When snow melts and the shingles warm, the issue should resolve itself without any intervention necessary. They have a good warranty, and Curt was very clear about rectifying any problems that may show up. I believe him.

We had a complex residing project which included removing old cedar shakes and replacing with Hardie shakes and board & batten on a 1940's home with lots of corners and angles. The work done by Mike and Josh was meticulous and they were both enjoyable to have around. John Weber was the project manager and stopped by regularly to make sure the project was going well. Our home looks amazing and many have commented on the attention to detail and high quality finishes. They cut no corners and did amazing work. I would not hesitate to refer Hoffman Weber for any exterior work.

I interviewed 5 different construction companies for our full house residing job. Our house is over 5000sq ft so I wanted to do my research before spending a large amount of money because I didn't want to be one of the horror stories we hear about construction companies or seen on HGTV. We met with Jason and he answered all my questions and concerns and gave me a very detailed bid so I knew exactly what I was paying for. Other companies did not give me a detailed bid and one only gave me a project amount on a ripped off piece of notebook paper and it was a huge company in the twin cities. Jason did an excellent job going over the bid and process with us. He made sure there was no misunderstandings so we were clearly on the same page. We began the project and I started working with Tim the project manager and he was also a great guy to work with. I'm not the easiest person to work with and both guys were respectful, professional, and over the top with customer service. They both take their jobs seriously and care about the outcome and it shows. I read every review online about Hoffman Weber and felt fully aware of any concerns to be expected. My house is completed and I can honestly say I would not have changed anything. We stayed within budget, my house looks amazing, and the company overall did a great job. We will need a new roof within a few years and I will contact Hoffman Weber without a doubt to do the job because I trust them and know they will do it right.

We purchased an older home, built in 1921, in the Summit Hill neighborhood of Saint Paul. It was in terrible condition -- a "fixer upper." It was the ugly duckling on the block. It was in bad need of new siding and windows throughout. We knew about Hoffman Weber (HW) and Jason Iwig from previous dealings at our old house in Bloomington. Those dealings resulted in a separate five-star review on Angie's List. So, when HW's estimate for windows and siding came back in the same ballpark as a couple of other very reputable companies, we immediately retained HW as our contractor. Jason met with us immediately after we committed to the project. He's extremely knowledgeable when it comes not only to the various siding products available but especially with respect to customizing design and aesthetic, with great attention to details like jut-outs, standard siding for lower and shake siding for upper, and decorative corbels etc. He was also able to provide several financing options from cash to a ten-year loan with relatively good rates. He was able to approve us on the spot. Jason then handed the project management over to Tim, who served as the foreman of the project by making regular visits and ensuring the crew had more than enough material on site to get the job done. Like Jason, Tim is extremely knowledgeable, thoughtful, and professional. He was always available to answer questions or address concerns, and always in a satisfactory (reasonable) manner. I'm sure all HW installers are great, but we feel we got particularly lucky with our installer crew, led by Boris. He was meticulous with his attention to detail, right down to the replacement of cable tv cords along the house. Everything had to be perfect with this guy. Yes, this meant a somewhat slower completion time, but I'll take slightly slow and meticulous over fast and sloppy any day. HW is the party that ultimately pays for this process, but it doesn't seem to bother them because our satisfaction always seemed of primary concern for them. Our 1921 house at 1116 Saint Clair Ave was an outlier in the neighborhood when we moved in, for all the wrong reasons. Now it's an outlier for all the right reasons. With Jason's help and artistic flair, we decided to use Hardie siding in the color Countrylane Red, with Arctic White trim. But we chose Birch Bark for the shake siding up on top, with a jut-out supported by corbels. We're happy. Our new neighbors are ecstatic. And passersby on Saint Clair stop to tell us how impressed they are. We really couldn't be happier with the job Hoffman Weber did for us, and we very sincerely hope those who read this review consider them for their project. Thanks.

Hoffman Weber resided our house in August, 2019 and we are very pleased with the outcome. Joe Wire was our sales contact who patiently worked with us as we made decisions during the planning stage. Joe is thoroughly professional, friendly, extremely detailed (you will know exactly what you owe before the final bill comes) and is a good listener. Joe and the office crew kept us apprised of materials delivery and dumpster install and removal. John did the installation. I was a little surprised to have a lone installer complete the entire job, but John did a great job. His workmanship is outstanding and any little thing I mentioned, he took care of. The property was totally cleaned up before he left and he finished the job within the original estimated time. We happily recommend Joe, John and Hoffman Weber Construction for your home-siding needs. M&V
