"We replaced the windows in our 1933 home through the services of MadCity Windows. Replacement is the better long-term solution for:

  • Major problems like deteriorating or rotting frames, significant leaks, or drafts.

  • If your windows are over 15 years old, as repairs may only be a temporary fix for an aging unit.

  • If you have a widespread problem affecting several windows.

Look for stickers at the top or inside of the frame, like in the tracks when the window is open. Some brands also stamp their name onto the frame itself or place it between the panes of glass, although this is less common. If you can’t find the info on the window itself, consider asking your neighbors or HOA.

There are many signs to look out for that tell you it’s time to replace a double-hung window. If the window is drafty and inefficient, you may need a new window to block out air leaks and keep your utility bills from skyrocketing. Other signs that it’s time to replace a window include foggy glass, soft or broken window frames, or window sashes that won’t open or close easily.
