"Not long after we moved to Menomonee Falls and purchased our home, we had WASCO replace all twelve of our windows. Compared to our prior home these windows were a huge improvement! The ease of cleaning them from inside (multiple stories) was one of the best things along with a lifetime warranty. Years later there was a small issue with one and within days the service manager himself cam and inspected and did this minor repair. In this day and age that is a most impressive level of service. We highly recommend this fine company that has been in existence for all these years, unlike other others. I have no qualms recommending them. Lowell T. Carl Menomonee Falls."

"We had four windows replaced with lead mitigation procedures.  They did an excellent job and nearly got the job done in one day and only had to come back a second day to finish up a bit of caulking.

Windows questions, answered by experts

There are several downsides to choosing casement windows for your home. Firstly, casement windows can cost significantly more than standard windows—especially if you need to install custom windows. If you plan on installing window AC units, then casement windows aren’t the best option, as it can be difficult to fit an AC unit into windows that open sideways or outwards.

The hinges on casement windows also pose a higher risk for break-ins, as rust and wear and tear can make the hardware easier for burglars to break into.

There are many standard window sizes. The most common windows, single or double-hung models, typically range from 2-feet by 3-feet up to 4-feet by 6-feet. Of course, sliding windows will be wider than they are tall, though the standard sizing follows the same measurements.

Yes, you can enlarge windows in a brick house. Your masonry contractor will need to cut away exterior brick to make space for the larger window, and you may also need to consult a structural engineer to make sure the window is properly supported inside the frame of the house.

Bay windows are not easy to install because they are heavy and require specific tools and woodworking experience. You’ll also need to install a roof cab, flashing, and shingles. Ensuring the window is level and sealed can be tricky but it is important because it prevents air leakage and water from entering your home. Most often, an experienced window pro should install bay windows.

Most manufacturers have their name imprinted somewhere on the window, such as the spacer bar, hardware, or frame. Other manufacturers will include an identification number printed on the glass itself. If you’re unable to find either of these, then your window was manufactured locally (oftentimes called a “shop window”).

With a manufacturer name (or even better, the identification number) you can attempt to research the information to find out when the product was made. Keep in mind this won’t tell you when the window was installed on your home, but can get you close.
