"Excellent job! Josh and Billy did a great job - grading out the old lawn, smoothing it out and providing proper pitch and slope, installing a golf course type drain and seeding and matting the new lawn. They even worked hourly to distribute 10 yards of mulch when I requested it. They also returned to do 15 mulch rings around pine trees, which turned out great. They are qualified to do any and all landscape block and retaining walls - so I may be hiring them in the Spring to work on that. Good prices and quality work - I recommend C&R highly!"

"He looked at our fireplace and told us what needed to be fixed, but said it was fine for now - he didnâ t try to sell us on fixing something that wasnâ t broken, and then sent proposals for a couple of options for repair in the future. I felt that he was very thorough and honest!"

"Chris does an excellent job - all around! He covers the scope of a project with me, asks questions and provides suggestions. He communicates projected timeline and cost estimates and provides updates on a regular basis. He has done probably 6 or 8 projects for us and has completed the work on time and on budget EVERYTIME!! My husband and I are always amazed at the amount of work Chris is able to accomplish in one day! Photos are from spring clean up & mulch installation."

"I started off wanting a simple concrete work done on a pathway and patio. Marvin showed me paver options that I hadn't previously considered and even though they increased the price of the project, I am so much happier with the look of the end result. Everything is beautiful. The crew did fabulous work. My husband and I are looking forward to enjoying our new outdoor spaces for years to come."

"Current Electric helped us tremendously with our Electrical Box upgrade. We first wanted our power line to be placed underground and Current Electric helped us with the logistics with contacting the electric company. Second, when it was time for the installation to happen, the technicians came on time, worked diligently, and cleaned up after the project was completed. I would hire them for any of our future projects."

"Rutger was very professional, explained what he was doing as he went along. He covered the area in front of the fireplace with a drop cloth and wore shoe covers in the house. We will have him come back again next year."

Customers say: Super punctual

"Roberto and his team worked extremely hard in removing about 2-3 inches of clay/Stoney dirt and putting down about 2 inches of very good black dirt. They first had to remove about 20 plants that were in the garden which they were careful in doing. When they replanted these plants plus about 20 more, they used black dirt to fill the hole around the plant roots. They also replaced a dying evergreen and again surrounded the root with a whole wheel barrow of black dirt. They put a good 4 inches of mulch all around the garden. They did not use heavy equipment so no damage was done to the sod. They cleaned up everything very well. Roberto is very professional and works very hard. I will hire him again and have him doing our seasonal maintenance."

Fire Pit Installation questions, answered by experts

DIY smoke detectors are possible, but professional installation ensures compliance with fire codes and optimal safety.

The damper, located just above the firebox, can open or close the chimney flue. The damper should remain closed unless there’s a fire burning in the fireplace. Closing the damper prevents energy loss through the chimney and cold air from seeping into the home during the winter. Opening the damper helps maintain airflow when there is a fire and prevents smoke and gases from venting into the house.

Ensure you have a safe environment for them to work on, and there aren’t items such as logs, build-up of yard materials, missing or damaged shingles, and weak areas on the roof. Communicate any known electrical issues with contractors at the beginning of the project, and consider hiring an electrician to fix those. Finally, if you are attempting the project yourself, do so when there isn’t any rain, and you can safely get your footing on the roof using proper equipment, such as an extension ladder. Don’t attempt this alone, and have a helper nearby to assist.

Maintain smoke alarms, ensure safe electrical and cooking practices, and regularly clean chimneys to minimize fire or smoke hazards.

Pellet stoves are safer than wood stoves in many ways. They don’t produce as many creosote deposits as wood stoves do, they create less smoke, and the flames are contained, decreasing the risk of any sparks or embers creating a house fire. Pellet stoves also burn more cleanly and efficiently than wood stoves do.
