"If I could give a NEGATIVE 5 STAR review I totally would!!!!!! This is the worst company I have EVER dealt with! We had some work done a couple of months ago. The job was suppose to take a day-ended up taking 2 WEEKS! My son had to rearrange his whole schedule, missed out on work, the contractors wouldn’t show up for days or they were late by hours, they would just leave and say the job was complete (and it wasn’t even half done!), we have tried calling to discuss and the receptionists are all trained to say the managers and owners are in ‘meetings’, we’ve sent emails and left messages and not once received a call back or reply to our emails! We are beyond frustrated! Then they send a bill 2 mos later for the full amount when they didn’t complete the job and they won’t even listen to the issues we have with paying this bill because the company has such terrible communication! I’m not even sure the owners are aware of how the business is being run at this point! DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY"

Fireplaces questions, answered by experts

Installing a fireplace insert can be complicated and expensive, particularly if modifications are necessary to accommodate it. The cost of purchasing an insert and necessary venting system can also be a significant investment. Fuel type may also be limited with gas or electric inserts, potentially reducing the cozy appeal of a traditional wood-burning fireplace. Maintenance and repair may require specialized services, especially when dealing with gas lines or electrical components. Some argue that fireplace inserts lack the authentic ambiance of an open, crackling fire, with glass doors potentially reducing the visual appeal of the flames.

Regular cleaning, checking venting, and scheduling professional inspections help ensure safe operation.

When it comes to noise levels, outdoor wood furnaces typically fall within a manageable range that's comparable to other standard heating systems. The noise generated by an outdoor wood furnace is primarily attributed to the operation of the fan and blower components responsible for circulating heated air throughout your home.

These fans and blowers are designed to minimize sound while effectively distributing warmth. While you might notice a subtle hum or airflow noise when they're in operation, it's generally not intrusive or disruptive to your daily activities.

When your fireplace is not in use for longer periods of time, such as over the summer, you can keep smells at bay by spraying either a commercial fireplace deodorizing product or a blend of one part distilled white vinegar to one part water around the walls of the fireplace.

Or, you can place a container of charcoal inside the fireplace to absorb odors. Just be sure to remove it before it’s time to start using the fireplace again.

You should get your chimney cleaned around once per year, but you might want to opt for bi-annual cleanings if you use your fireplace often. Remember, your boiler likely vents into your chimney as well, so cleaning is required even if you don’t use your fireplace. It’s a good idea to clean your chimney during the summer so that it’s ready to use when you want a worry-free cozy fire on that first crisp autumn night of the season.
