Sole proprietor owned business since 2001 with eighteen years in business. master mason licensed, bonded and insured. We work as either a two or more crew depending on the job. I, Jeffrey, the owner, do all my own work. We're family here at Cornell Chimney. Three generations now. We are looking forward to service you.

"Cornell was hired to remove, rebuild and reline our chimney. We paid him his down payment , soon after he requested $4500 more to order the liner. He erected scaffold to complete the job, which ended up falling causing damage to our roof along with damage caused from dropping bricks on the roof. 4 months went by with little to no progress. Finally we received notice from his insurance company that he was dropped because of lack of payment. We were forced to higher a new chimney company to complete the job. At that point we found out Cornell had never ordered the liner that we paid for. We asked to have the $4500 returned but never received a response. I would highly recommend not allowing Cornell anywhere near anyone's roof. He is careless and unreliable."

Custom One Construction's motto is "exceeding expectations". We make it our priority to ensure that the job is done right, in a timely manner, and when we walk out the door, the customer is happy. The owners Jeff and Chris have combined experience of over 30 years in construction, and have amassed a wide range of knowledge in multiple fields. Most of our estimates are free. No job is too big or too small. We are neither the cheapest company nor are we the most expensive, but our work is of the highest quality. We do not have a fancy business office, drive big shiny trucks, or staff a fast-talking salesman. When we arrive at the jobsite, it is just Jeff and Chris. So we can afford to offer reasonable rates! Despite this difficult economy, Custom One Construction LLC. has grown simply by word of mouth, and we believe there is something to be said about that. We have references to help ease your mind when considering a project with us. Additional service areas: Scott, Washington & portions of Goddhue & Carver Counties

Chimney Repair questions, answered by experts

Metal roofs often benefit from snow guards because the slick surface can lead to snow avalanches off of your roof, potentially damaging cars or personal property below and putting your family at risk of injury. Low-slope metal roofs may not require snow guards if your area doesn’t see heavy snow accumulation, but it’s a good idea to install them for security.

Roofers most often use nails to fasten roofing shingles and other roofing materials. Nails have more holding power than staples and offer better weather resistance and longevity. However, it is possible to use staples instead of nails when installing a roof. Staples are less expensive, but not as high-quality.

Installing a metal roof will rarely affect your homeowner’s insurance policy in a negative way, and you might even get a discount on your premium for installing one, depending on your area. Metal roofs can reduce the risk of structural damage from heavy snow, and they stand up better to strong winds and impact, so homeowners in areas that see excessive snowfall or extreme weather may see savings on insurance premiums after installing a metal roof.

Moss grows in dark areas of roofs, including in corners and gutters. If left alone, it can grow under roofing and cause permanent damage. Here’s how to remove moss from metal roofs

  • Soak the moss to soften it

  • Scrub it away with a soft-bristled brush, or pick it off with your hands (be sure to wear gloves)

  • Use a moss remover that’s compatible with metal roofing, following the manufacturer’s directions

  • Remove dead moss and rinse the roof thoroughly

  • Prevent future moss growth by trimming branches, cleaning gutters, and attaching zinc strips to moss-prone areas

Regular cleaning, promptly repairing minor issues, ensuring proper drainage, and using rust-resistant coatings help prevent recurring damage.
