Customers say: True professional

"Hector and the crew were fantastic! They made sure to do everything correctly and took the time to make sure that the job was done very well and very efficiently. The finished product looks so much better than our old driveway, and we haven't stopped receiving compliments since the driveway was poured!"

"JBS was great to work. Was quick to answer our question and gave us exactly what we were looking for. We had 5 quotes done before this company and we became extremely frustrated. Our new driveway and patio look amazing."

"The driveway was completed and done very well. However, I have called back on 3 occasions questioning the resurfacing of my step and a four inch chert near the entrance of the driveway. No one has come back out to address this. I paid 10K for the job and it seems that now I can be ignored."

Asphalt Driveways questions, answered by experts

Your Milwaukee home is ideal for asphalt paving if the soil is stable—often clay-rich in this region—and there’s adequate drainage to prevent water pooling. Ample space for equipment access is also important. Gravel driveways are well-suited for overlays, while surfaces with extensive cracking or heaving may require full reconstruction. Addressing drainage and timing the project for warmer months ensures the best results.

Helpful?

In the first 5 years in WI, asphalt paving requires its first sealcoat by year three. Between years 5 and 10, more frequent crack sealing becomes necessary due to freeze-thaw cycles. After 10-15 years, surface oxidation is noticeable, and a professional overlay might be required. The harsh winters in Wisconsin can accelerate this aging process, often leading to a full replacement around 20 years.

Helpful?

Milwaukee’s harsh winters and deicing salts can accelerate asphalt wear, so annual spring inspections for cracks and potholes are crucial. Seal cracks before freeze-thaw cycles return, and apply a sealcoat every two to three years to protect against moisture and UV damage. Clear snow promptly and avoid excessive use of salt to minimize surface breakdown. Keeping drainage areas clear helps prevent water-related issues.

Helpful?

For minor asphalt paving issues in Milwaukee, you can safely fill hairline cracks with cold-pour filler when temperatures are above 50°F. Small potholes can be addressed with a cold-mix patch compound. Always avoid DIY repairs during the freeze-thaw cycles between November and March. For winter care, use a plastic shovel instead of metal to prevent surface damage and protect your investment.

Helpful?

Key signs that your asphalt paving in Milwaukee needs to be redone include widespread "alligator" cracking, which indicates base failure. Look for significant depressions that hold water, especially after heavy spring rains, or crumbling edges. Other red flags are frost heave damage after winter thaws and a gray, brittle surface that crumbles easily. These issues often require a professional replacement.
