Customers say: True professional

"Hector and his team did d an outstanding job. My new driveway is beautiful. They showed up when promised and worked hard all day. They found a problem with the foundation of my house that needed to be repaired before replacing the driveway and rebuilt the foundation wall next to the driveway. I would recommend them to anyone needing concrete work done."

Emergency services offered

"We had C&R Custom Exteriors work on an extensive project. It required building three retaining walls, installing a ramp using permeable pavers, installing downspout drainage, regrading, etc. We were very happy with the results, the hard work, the attention to detail, and the personal service they provided. Josh and Bill were great people to work with. Their professional, friendly, and personal communication was appreciated. When necessary, they helped guide us to the best solution for issues. We would certainly highly recommend C&R Custom Exteriors."

"IF YOU NEED ANY WORK IN YOUR YARD: CLEARING, CLEANING, LANDSCAPING, PLANTING, POWER-WASHING, SUPER-WEEDING, GRASS PLANTING, TRANSPLANTING, OR MULCHING -- LOOK NO FURTHER! ROBERTO NOVA LANDSCAPING IS YOUR ANSWER. THEY TRULY ARE A FULL-SERVICE OPERATION. ROBERTO AND HIS SMALL, TIGHT CREW ARE EXTRAORDINARY IN THEIR NEVER-SAY-DIE WORK ETHIC, THEIR ATTENTION TO DETAIL, THEIR PROFESSIONALISM, THEIR WILLINGNESS TO GO THE LAST MILE. THEY TRANSFORMED MY "NO MOW MAY" RE-WILDING INTO A BEAUTIFUL LANDSCAPED HEAVEN. ROBERTO MOVED PLANTS FROM THE FRONT YARD TO THE BACK -- HE'S EXPERT AT THAT, AND IT LOOKS WONDERFUL. HE NEVER STOPS MOVING. I CANNOT SAY ABOUT HIS DEDICATED CREW. THEY ARTFULLY TRIMMED BUSHES, MOWED AN EXTREMELY OVERGROWN LAWN (NO MOW MAY), POWER-WASHED THE PATIOS AND WALKWAYS, LAID DIRT AND GRASS SEED, MULCHED A HUGE BIT OF PROPERTY, AND CLEANED ALL THE DETRITUS WITHIN A SPECK. THEY WORK MAGIC AND LONG HOURS. AND ... AND ... ROBERTO DID IT FOR AN EXTREMELY REASONABLE PRICE. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR: HIRE ROBERTO NOVA IMMEDIATELY. YOU WILL THANK YOURSELF. AND IF YOU HAVE TO WAIT A COUPLE OF WEEKS (HE'S IN DEMAND) DO IT ANYWAY. IT'S WORTH THE WAIT! YOU'LL LOVE THE LOOK OF YOUR PROPERTY AFTER ROBERTO AND HIS CREW DESCEND."

Asphalt Driveways questions, answered by experts

If you notice minor cosmetic problems with your driveway, you should seal it. Look out for cracks and holes on the surface, faded asphalt or concrete, and stains from oil and other chemicals. Replacing your driveway may be necessary if you’re dealing with significant problems—¼-inch cracks, large potholes, and puddles from drainage issues. The cost to install an asphalt driveway typically ranges between $4,200 and $9,000, significantly more than resealing. Consider talking to a professional to discuss whether resurfacing your driveway—a midway project between resealing and replacing—is a better option for you.

While paving a driveway is possible to do as a DIY project, we don’t recommend it. Hiring a driveway professional to pave it will ensure that your driveway looks neat and clean and lasts for years to come, and it will also prevent a weak driveway and, potentially, damage to your foundation. Paving a driveway requires heavy machinery, and while you can rent the equipment needed, operating it close to your garage slab or around your home’s foundation can crack it and lead to structural issues.

Wet cutting is usually the preferred method. It controls dust, which helps protect your lungs and makes for a cleaner working environment. Plus, the water cools the blade, preventing overheating and prolonging its life while providing smoother, more precise cuts. The downside is the mess—water and asphalt sludge can be messy to clean. Dry cutting, though convenient if water isn’t available, creates a lot of dust, which can be harmful. This also increases the risk of blade damage due to overheating. So, if you have the option, wet cutting is the better method for most asphalt jobs.

Asphalt is made of aggregate materials (sand, rocks, and gravel) and bitumen, a viscous, petroleum-based, waterproof substance. These materials are mixed together at extremely high temperatures to form asphalt.

New asphalt typically needs 24 to 72 hours to dry before it can handle light foot traffic and careful driving. Although it may appear solid after a few days, the full curing process, where the asphalt reaches its peak strength, takes much longer—generally from 30 days to a year.

During this extended curing time, the surface remains relatively soft and can be damaged by heavy vehicles, sharp objects, or high temperatures. To protect your investment, it's best to avoid parking heavy machinery on the asphalt until it has fully cured.

The exact time required for drying and curing depends on several factors, including the weather, the specific asphalt mix, and its thickness. For the most accurate advice tailored to your situation, consult with your asphalt contractor.
