The move itself went very smoothly, but more importantly, they were great with our mom, who was kind of nervous about the whole process, and they even went over and above by making sure her mattress was flipped exactly as she wanted. "This is so unfortunate we have to leave this review. The initial move they helped us with was efficient and great. So we called and asked them to move a shed for us. Unfortunately the movers broke the shed. We understand these things happen and just wanted to file a claim to have it fixed or replaced. So we contacted the company with pictures details twice with no response. The damage includes the doors not aligning because the whole shed leans and screws are ripped from the roof. Also the shed was ripped from the base causing the screws to be ripped through the bottom of the shed which lead to damage as well. When we called to follow up, the office manager said she’d talk to the movers and never called us back. We emailed again to no response. About a week later (today) I called again to follow up and she said the movers said they didn’t damage it and so she refused to start a claim for us. I hate having to post this because I want to support local businesses. That’s why we hired them in the first place! They were not the least expensive but we try to support local and also were assured by the owner if anything went wrong or damage happened it would be addressed immediately. This experience though is unbelievable and it seems they aren’t willing to honor their own contractual terms regarding damage. I really wish I could recommend them but I’d say avoid at all possible costs. Two men and a truck was better than this and that says very little."

"Working with JC Movers & Lumper Service was the worst experience of moving that I’ve ever had because of the incompetence and unprofessional behavior of the crew. Only 2 movers showed up rather than the 3 we paid for. When asked, the other movers laughed, smirked at each other, and just said "He's not coming." The crew leader, Curtis, smelled strongly of alcohol upon arrival. Throughout the day Curtis was aloof, slow-moving, and rarely spoke. He stayed inside the townhouse most of the day, taking apart a crib, and left all the hard work and actual moving to the younger member of the crew. The younger man was inexperienced and severely damaged our hardwood floors, front door, and drywall up and down the stairs. He was extremely careless with our possessions and did not load the truck efficiently or safely. He filled the entire trailer with boxes and furniture, but only about 5’ high despite having 9' of vertical space to work with. Heavy boxes were placed on top of lighter boxes, and the boxes marked "fragile" were put on the bottom of the load underneath heavy furniture or other heavy boxes. Most of these fragile boxes and their contents were damaged during the cross-country drive. The load was not braced or reinforced in any way to avoid items shifting in transit which caused serious damage to a prized antique bookcase and several other items. When the crew at the destination opened the trailer to transfer the contents into a shuttle, everything had shifted during transit and many boxes were crushed. The crew actually identified a safety risk in unpacking the trailer because items would shift dangerously when a box or piece of furniture was removed. They were able to fit our entire load into 16' of shuttle truck space when stacked efficiently to the ceiling and properly braced. This is 12' less than what the JC moving crew used which represented over $900 in unnecessary trailer space cost. In terms of the good, two things: 1. After being advised of this experience, the president of the company, Chandra Thomas, extended a courtesy credit of $250. Although this is half of what it will cost to fix the bookcase, not to mention the extra space the JC crew used in the trailer, I did appreciate the gesture. Chandra was very professional and responsive which made interacting with her the only bright spot in this entire experience. 2. The company sent a contractor to fix the front door, walls, and hardwood floors in our townhouse which was done reasonably well and quickly. Considering everything together, I would recommend you avoid this company and look for a more reputable local mover that will treat your home and possessions with respect and care."

"In spite of numerous negative reviews about Move Quick, Inc., I opted to hire this company for my move from West Virginia to Los Angeles. I spoke to Phillip, the manager/owner, who convinced me that the posted complaints had been resolved and were exaggerations. However, I, too, was subjected to an exaggerated low bid in order to snag my business. I, too, experience problems with the pick up and the delivery dates. The movers were a day late in arriving, then quoted me a 67% increase in price, from $3,100 to $5,200. BUT I was stuck. The company already had my deposit money. Also, I was charged for one flight of stairs and an exaggerated inaccurate measurement of my front door to the truck. I had been told there was no fee for one flight. I had provided exact measurements for the items in my two rooms of furniture. True, I had 51 boxes instead of 40 but that did not warrant such an increase in price, 67% almost $2,000. Delivery was also problematic. I had told Move Quick, Inc. that I would be at my new home 25 days after the pick up, October 30, 2019. That should have been more than enough time for any truck to drive cross country. They made me wait until December 4, 2020, a total of 25 days to drive 2,400 miles. I made the drive solo in 5 days. Communication with the company once they have your money is near to impossible. It took threats and 6 days for Philip to respond. He then provided an insignificant $75 discount. My recommendation: go with a larger company than can provide an accurate estimate and deliver within a reasonable time. Also, use a company that uses the industry standard of moving cost based on the weight of your items. Don’t let Phillip tell you his method of charging based on volume is better. No one else does this, for a reason. Other estimates I had received were in the $3,700 range.I should have Booked Elsewhere!”"

"Received quote and paid $2429.90 deposit. 1 week before scheduled pickup, they called and re-assessed the number of items in the house and bumped up the estimate by $4149. I cancelled the service because I had donated 25% of my house to charity and there were less items to move. However, they did not return my deposit of $2429.90 because they said that I did not cancel in time. They have pulled the bait and switch routine on others (B&B complaints). I would not advise anyone to use them for your moving services !!"

"The 2 people who actually showed up were professional, although they arrived very late, which I attribute to three poor management. I was quoted 3 guys for 8 hours, and only 2 showed up. They attempted to overcharge me the original quote. Long story short, Tower contracted a local company and did a poor job of handing over the job."
