Working with JC Movers & Lumper Service was the worst experience of moving that I’ve ever had because of the incompetence and unprofessional behavior of the crew. Only 2 movers showed up rather than the 3 we paid for. When asked, the other movers laughed, smirked at each other, and just said "He's not coming." The crew leader, Curtis, smelled strongly of alcohol upon arrival. Throughout the day Curtis was aloof, slow-moving, and rarely spoke. He stayed inside the townhouse most of the day, taking apart a crib, and left all the hard work and actual moving to the younger member of the crew. The younger man was inexperienced and severely damaged our hardwood floors, front door, and drywall up and down the stairs. He was extremely careless with our possessions and did not load the truck efficiently or safely. He filled the entire trailer with boxes and furniture, but only about 5’ high despite having 9' of vertical space to work with. Heavy boxes were placed on top of lighter boxes, and the boxes marked "fragile" were put on the bottom of the load underneath heavy furniture or other heavy boxes. Most of these fragile boxes and their contents were damaged during the cross-country drive. The load was not braced or reinforced in any way to avoid items shifting in transit which caused serious damage to a prized antique bookcase and several other items. When the crew at the destination opened the trailer to transfer the contents into a shuttle, everything had shifted during transit and many boxes were crushed. The crew actually identified a safety risk in unpacking the trailer because items would shift dangerously when a box or piece of furniture was removed. They were able to fit our entire load into 16' of shuttle truck space when stacked efficiently to the ceiling and properly braced. This is 12' less than what the JC moving crew used which represented over $900 in unnecessary trailer space cost. In terms of the good, two things: 1. After being advised of this experience, the president of the company, Chandra Thomas, extended a courtesy credit of $250. Although this is half of what it will cost to fix the bookcase, not to mention the extra space the JC crew used in the trailer, I did appreciate the gesture. Chandra was very professional and responsive which made interacting with her the only bright spot in this entire experience. 2. The company sent a contractor to fix the front door, walls, and hardwood floors in our townhouse which was done reasonably well and quickly. Considering everything together, I would recommend you avoid this company and look for a more reputable local mover that will treat your home and possessions with respect and care.

It went great. I purchased a 2 hour package. They had the start time wrong by an hour from what was confirmed but that was not an issue for me fortunately. After that, both gentlemen where excellent, very polite, professional and worked quickly. I had things ready to make sure we can get it all done and they moved some very heavy and fragile items successfully. I am very happy with the work and will be purchasing another one after our remodeling is done.

Sorry, the movers were nice guys but the quality of work was poor. Requested that pieces of furniture be moved from the house into the attached garage. From the beginning it was clear that the movers were not prepared to move heavy items. They struggled throughout the entire job. A lot of time was wasted with them trying to figure out how to move pieces of furniture down stairs and through doorways. In trying to move a couch through a doorway I asked that they not drag it because I needed the trimwork on the floor to stay intact. A couple of minutes later, all I heard is a loud "CRACK" and that's all she wrote. At that point, I called it quits and requested that they not continue. I felt that the movers were inexperienced and not prepared for the job. I needed other items in the house to be moved but did not feel comfortable allowing the job to continue.

J.C. Movers made themselves available to us despite calling them with fairly late notice. They offered a great price and sent two movers to move 7-9 heavy items from our 2nd floor apartment to our new home. The workers showed up an hour late, although they did call in the morning letting us know that their first job ran later than anticipated. No problem there. The major issue came when they arrived and asked me, "Where's your truck?" Maybe this was my mistake for not knowing this, but I felt it should have been explained to me on the phone that this is moving service only and they do not provide trucks. Luckily, the company was able to book a last minute U-Haul for me to use. This cost me an extra $50, but I can't complain because they were still a few hundred dollars cheaper than what other moving companies quoted. They also agreed to knock off $20 due to the confusion. The two gentlemen who moved the items were hard-working and professional. Bottom line, if you use J.C. Movers for your move, you can expect quality work done by hardworking individuals at a very reasonable price. Just know up front that you will have to provide your own moving truck.

The team was great - professional and fast! Took great care with some really heavy items (gun safe, dressers, cast iron tub).

Initally I hired 3 men for 3 hours. I did a bad job of estimating how long it would take. It took 3 men less than one hour to move it all out. They were punctual, professional and did a great job. We were very pleased, however, I still had to pay for 3 men for 3 hours. I called the company and asked to have my request changed to 2 men for 2 hours and have the day changed to a Sunday because the flooring work was completed a full day earlier than planned. I was told by Chandra that someone else would need to call me back to discuss and that person did not call me back. When I called again, I was told by Chandra that they wanted their men to be home with their families on Sunday. I would have gladly paid extra for them to do it on Sunday because I was staying in a motel. The men that came on Monday, were pleasant, efficient and professional and it took them exactly 2 hours to complete the job. They were very cautious not to scratch the refinished floor. While I would have very much appreciated having the men come on Sunday, I have no real complaints with their work.

Not well. In the process of the move, they scratched one of the condo walls, but they did repair it at their expense. While moving my furniture into my new home, my dresser was damaged on all 5 legs. They paid for the repairs, but they didn't cover the full amount. The furniture repair company said that the damage wasn't consistent with something that shifted while packed and was very major. JC movers said that though there were paying for it that they believed it to be the POD company's fault. I would not use them again in the future.

We had been looking for an inexpensive alternative to the standard full service moving company, as we had the additional complication of having goods in storage for 4 months between move out and move in, and didn't want to move things twice, into and out of a storage facility. I was successful in finding a trailer firm that would rent the trailers to us for a number of months, and store them in their facility. But I needed labor. Via Angie's List, I contacted this firm. Very professional and flexible. And good labor rates. For a 4500 sq ft house, they sent out a 4-man crew. consisting of Antoine, Victor, Cory, and Robi. T hey were GREAT!. Good work ethic. Good sense of humor. Patient. Kept on moving. Only took a 30-minute lunch. Were very careful with everything. Wrapped all furniture carefully, especially glass tables and mirrors. Watching them load was like watching a 3-D Tetris game played by masters. The packed that truck tight, with no movement or shaking that could break anything. Heavy stuff low... light stuff high, boxes fitting together like a Jenga puzzle. I had originally planned on 2 x 45;'semis to store our stuff while the house sold, but because of their highly efficient loading, I was able to get away with just one! This was 1 and a half day project. 12 hours the first day, and 3-4 hours the next. The only "complaint", if it could really be called that, is that the supplies were priced a just little high. You might want to shop for your own furniture blankets and tape. I will definitely use them again, for the final move out and the move in, especially if I'm lucky enough to get the same crew.

Overall experience went awful. Currently have the following list of grievances with the company as well as a claim for over $1000 for a broken dresser that they didnot pack correctly and broke the leg off. 06/21 Load Day:- Slowness ? although I repeatedly asked for the individuals to move quickly they walked and carried on at an extremely slow paced. This caused for my move to go over by THREE hours. With that said, my boyfriend, my brother, and myself brought down at least 75% of all the goods and the other 2 spent most their time arranging the furniture and boxes inside the shell. Due to this I would have assumed it would have been packed correctly, which is why I was not overly concerned on the day of the load. I would rather things be done right and slow than fast and incorrectly. However this was no the case 06/25 Unload Day:Poor packing ? ALL boxes were shoved and compiled with NO regard to the word ?FRAGILE? written on the boxes. Boxes were turned upside down and smashed (provided pictures to company). This would not be a problem with clothes, but if the box reflects FRAGILE ? I would have hoped my movers would take this into account. When I pointed this out to Hebert, my mover who packed it initially, he said that I, ?used the wrong box? and pointed to a home depot box that I should have used. This is completely RIDICULOUS! I should be able to use any reasonable packing box and I should expect that my fragile boxes are handled as such. If a specific box needs to be used for fragile items then this needs to be communicated way ahead of time. Due to their disregard, I so far have a handful of smashed glasses and a broken pitcher. Additionally, they threw my bicycle wherever it could fit and due to that, the aluminum where the wheel goes in was completely dented and out of place. Broken Dresser ? over $1000+ dresser leg was cracked off due to the incompetent nature of the packing. Walls ? they put 3 holes in my walls moving large furniture without care. Due to my place just being painted these are very noticeable Time- lastly, due to a scheduling issue with Zippy Shell my second shell was late. This was not an issue as I worked it out with zippy shell but there were about 2 hours between my first and second shell that the movers were rightfully paid for. However during these 2 hours, they DISAPPEARED. I have no idea where they went and at no point did they check in to see if anything could be moved between rooms in my house or help put 2 beds together (one of which just came undone minutes before). They were gone. I felt this to be completely inappropriate. They should have asked if they could have helped. Many items were put in the incorrect rooms and having 2 floors a lot of boxes needed to be brought down a level. My thought is if they are getting paid ? they could at least ask if anything else could be done. There are many other issues/concerns/problems I have and continue to find as I unpack. I deeply regret using this company. Disclaimer: I appreciate that things may and DO get broken during a move. I really get that, what I don?t accept is the complete lack of care and concern taking while packing my things and the time it took to complete an incompetent job.

JC Movers were the best and most professional moving services I've ever used. They were extremely flexible with me. I had originally booked 3 movers for 3 hours but when PODS (who I have slightly less positive comments about) were unable to deliver both, I had to reschedule the movers to come twice. They revised my proposal to be 2 movers for 2 hours - once on the original date and then again on the new date that the second POD container would arrive. The guys showed up on time, giving me a call before they arrived. They were extremely hard working and had excellent customer service. The movers weren't just a couple of guys who don't care - they seemed to take pride in doing a good job and helping me as much as possible. They even moved things around in the home after they brought it in. They were absolutely wonderful. I would definitely use them again but hopefully I won't move for a long time. I'll recommend them to anyone though.

They were reasonable but not professional. I mean that they are not professional movers. The people did not know exactly how to move things and protect things. Some things were damaged when they moved them. I think they were running late at that time.
