"Work was completed, but with a lot of issues and lack of communication. Mostly listening and attention to detail. Items purchased/installed without consultation. Wrong doors purchased. Shower walls already detaching from drywall. Had to replace already new water heater because they hooked/unhooked/moved it so many times it fried the electrical board inside it. No accountability for mistakes. Plumbing company in town won't work with them anymore because of their conduct. They didn't know a blower door test was required to pass inspection, so did the work myself. Was constantly told "I'm not making much money off of this" as a way to skirt responsibility. JOBC made the quote, and was told that there was a specific budget. IMO wasn't willing to constantly pay more money, so other jobs took priority. They smoked marijuana in the driveway while working. Not opposed to that generally, but not professional. Was being sued by another client and asked for . Won't hire again."

Additionally, garbage disposals last for around 15 years, so if you know your appliance is reaching that age, it’s likely better to pay for a new garbage disposal rather than sink money into repairs.

There are many maintenance and repair issues that lead to a malfunctioning garbage disposal. Regular clogs place wear and tear on the motors, leading to an eventual shutdown. Electrical issues at the breaker, wall outlet, or disposal itself can fry the unit. The most common cause is simply a worn-down motor. However, as time goes on and more food is ground, the grinding plates will slowly lose their edge and need replacing. A motor likely won’t last 10 or more years, but you should be able to get a minimum of five years at least, even under heavy usage. 

Garbage disposals can be considered bad for the environment due to their electricity usage, but good for the environment because they reduce the food waste sent to landfills. If everyone used a garbage disposal, it would tax the wastewater treatment facilities in that region, but if we had to choose one of the options, we’d say they are a net positive on the environment when used correctly.
