Customers say: Quick response

"We started our exterior house painting project in September 2023. Our house was built around 1910, so the siding is very old wood and very much needed to be repainted. It was getting near the end of the season and after talking with Sergiy, we thought we could get the job done before winter. Sergiy was able to power wash the house and started scraping and caulking. Unfortunately, we started getting rain and the weather turned cold. Sergiy used what few good days we had to put a primer on the whole house. That got us through the winter. This Spring he came back did some more caulking, scraping, and took care of anything that winter threw at us. Sergiy was very conscious and meticulous, and he didn't just paint the house but made every effort to ensure the best result. He chose the best type of primer and paints for our application. Sergiy did the best job possible and we highly recommend his services."

"Elias Contruction provided a detailed estimate after inspecting the roof and making some qualified recommendations. The project required a few change orders that were not clarified in writing. I would recommend hiring Elias if you get changes in writing. They cleaned up pretty well although they missed a few things due to finishing in the dark. Overall satisfied with the job and cost was 60% of other bids due to sheathing adjustment."

"Ben and his crew did an excellent job on my house. Being very particular, I am a hard person to please and Ben not only meet but exceeded my expectations. The Crew was prompt, courteous, keep the area clean, and their bid was very competitive. Since first hiring Ben I’ve recommended him to several friends and clients and am on his books for two more personal painting projects, a duplex and a house. I would highly recommend Ben and his crew for any paint project that you have."

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

Staining a deck with a rag is typically a better option than using a brush, as it helps the stain penetrate deeper into the wood. However, both brushes and rags are best reserved for detailed work because using these tools on an entire deck can require tediously crawling around on your hands and knees. A pad applicator, sprayer, or roller are preferred alternatives to applying stain over the majority of a deck. Use a rag for railings and other detailed work, and let the wood soak up as much of the stain as possible before wiping away drips or pools.

It’s necessary for paint to completely dry before exposure to rain, and that drying time varies by the type of paint used. Oil-based paint takes 6 to 8 hours to dry on average, meaning that’s the minimum time needed between the last brush stroke and the first raindrop. Latex paint dries faster at around 1 hour, and acrylic paint is even quicker, usually drying in about 30 minutes. If rain is in the forecast, check the paint manufacturer's details before laying on a new coat.

Always wait until the morning dew has dried before you stain your deck. The stain needs a fully dry surface to sink into.

You should seal your deck every one to two years, but you’ll also need to clean and repair your wood deck throughout the seasons. You may want to hire a local house cleaning service to sweep and clean the deck thoroughly. These cleaning services cost around $50 per hour.

Inspect your deck at least once a year, and if you notice any damage or rot, expect to spend about $10 to $50 for simple DIY fixes or about $2,000 for professional repairs on more extensive damage.

Various kinds of substances and deck preservatives act as protective coatings for wood to prevent rot, which is caused by water getting into the wood and creating cracks and splits. Stains, paints, and sealants are the three best options to protect your wood, but there are also oils, varnishes, and waxes available. You’ll need to reapply sealant at least once per year, and you should inspect your wood deck regularly to look for signs of damage or general wear and tear.
