"Hired Neli for a virtual repair of our Whirlpool washer. Tom was VERY knowledgeable, friendly and professional. We came up with a solid diagnosis of my issue and the replacement parts required. Tom advised me to consider the value of repairing, parts costs and time required, vs. a new purchase and the effort to repair was not going to be simple. We chatted about the pros/cons a lot. "We were not pleased with our DaBella experience. Some things were done well (install, mostly) and other things poorly (sales, communication). The sales team talked a great game, agreeing with our choices and pointing out the fact that our choice of color (white) was extremely easy to procure, so no problem there. The time frame was tight as we were expecting guests for a week, but we were told it could be done based on the simplicity (2 adjacent baths with only new inserts to be installed) and the color choice. Well, it wasn?t done on time. We had to wait until our guests had come and gone and the holidays were over. There was no communication from DaBella regarding all this. We were told to expect a flurry of calls or texts, getting everything together for us. We did all the reaching out, getting little in reply. The sales person (David ***) pretty much disappeared after he set things up. The Project Manager (Sierra) did nothing until after the entire project was completed, asking us for payment. What was she managing? The installers were very fast and efficient, completing the work in one day. The contact for installation (Chance) reached out to us making sure that the time/day would work. The next day Sierra called, telling us to expect a call from the installers. Too late! Our only complaint with the installation was there was virtually no cleanup afterwards. They left a water key sticking up out of the shutoff valve in the front yard, and various pieces of trash in the street and driveway in front of the house. The bathrooms were also extremely dirty and dusty afterwards, so we had to clean up before we could use them. Bottom line: the install finally looks great but the sales promises and poor communication detracted from the experience. There was also a huge disconnect between the installers and the company. They were given the wrong address (sales staff) and had to call to find us the day of the install. They also did not include a specific shower fixture in both bathrooms that we asked for, because it was in the attachment to the contract. Thankfully, they did come back the next day and put those fixtures in. As a final insult, DaBella sent us a coupon code for a free bag of coffee from Black Rifle Coffee as a thank you for our business. It did not work, so no coffee, but no surprise either."

FedEx tracking showed the package at their facility for 8 days without moving beginning on 10/15. Called FedEx 3 times. Each time they said they cannot find package and I have to contact shipper. Shipper has to make a claim, they will not mark it as lost. Called Appliance Parts Pros twice. Each time they say FedEx has to mark package lost before they will do anything. They also state they have to wait 14 days from them before doing anything because of their contract with FedEx. I don't care about their contract, I want what was ordered and paid for. Just going in circles with them and FedEX. If they shipped after 14 days it would be 22 days from that point, 32 days from the date of order if they shipped it that day. Anode rods sacrifice themselves by collecting iron, limestone, and other minerals that would otherwise corrode your hot water heater tank. This abuse wears them out long before your water heater does. Check the rod when you remove it and replace it if more than 50% of the metal has been consumed. Check the rod more frequently if you have hard water or use a water softener. 

The average lifespan of a water heater is eight to 12 years. If your water heater is approaching its first decade of life and is giving you problems, talk to a plumber about your replacement options.

Keep in mind that certain parts of a water heater, such as the anode rod, may need replacement long before the heater itself. An anode rod often has a lifespan of three to five years.

Depending on the brand of water heater, you may need to install an expansion tank in order to meet the conditions for warranty coverage. It’s important for consumers to read the fine print of the warranty to see if an expansion tank is necessary. Even if an expansion tank isn’t required for the warranty, it’s usually mandated by building codes—although not for tankless water heaters.

You don’t have to replace expansion tanks at the same time as your hot water heater. You may be able to go six to 12 years or more before needing to replace your expansion tank. At $150 to $450, hot water heater expansion tanks are usually much more affordable than the cost of hot water tanks themselves, which average about $1,190.

According to the U.S. Department of Energy, tankless water heaters are anywhere from 8% to 34% more efficient than regular water heaters. Exactly how much energy you’ll save depends on your household’s water usage. When you purchase a tankless water heater, you’ll also likely upgrade to more efficient technology than your current water heater, which can add to energy savings.
