Rainy Day Services installed gutters and downspouts per bid. The first heavy rain after installation, the water poured over the top of what was supposed to be the high (closed) end of the northerly side gutter system. We called for a correction. The owner of Rainy Day Services visited our home with his installer. He observed that the northerly side gutter system was incorrectly installed. The installer had installed the northerly side gutter system with a high area midway through the 34 foot run thus limiting drainage from the closed end of the gutter system. We all viewed the slope of our gutter system using my 6' level. We were embarrased that he chewed out his installer in front of us. The owner of Rainy Day Services agreed to reinstall this gutter correctly at a later date.
Several days later in a telephone conversation with the owner of Rainy Day Services he commented that he had decided that "he could not make water run uphill", implying that our new contractor installed roof system (new manufactured trusses) was not level. He wanted to sell us an additional down spout and dry well system to drain what was designed to be the high end of the north side system.
I will never use Rainy Day Services again
I contacted 3 companies prior to going on vacation and wanted to schedule the work for my return. The only company that responded the same day was Rainy Day Services. The other two didn't call me back even when I called them a second time after I returned because I wanted to get three bids.
Rainy day, scheduled the repair with me before I left on vacation, came when they said, gave me a reasonable bid, and returned two days later to do the work. It rained a couple days quite hard and it appears that all is well. I was pleased with the service I got and would use them again.
schedule installation to coordinate with another contractor who was painting
our house the same week.
John (the owner) and his assistant showed up right on time and got
right to it. They seemed very professional and had the relaxed, confident vibe
of people who know what they are doing.
They got the job done in a timely manner and it looks awesome.
Note: The inside gutter corner next to the front door looked expertly done - no ragged metal edges. All seams were sealed nicely.
In talking with John, he told us that it was his 25th year in business in the area.
Thank you, John for a job well done. We appreciate it.
I contacted Rainy Day Services and was given a phone estimate of $253.
After the installers arrived, we discussed installation options and I went with having clips installed every 18 inches for added strength.
The job required more special clip hangers than was communicated to the installer. So he had to call the office to have more delivered. These added clips and added installation time caused the bill to be $476.
About an hour later, the install job got underway and went very well.
The installers were very professional and courteous and know their business.
