Customers say: Quick response

"I had a few plumbing jobs that Michael completed exceptionally well. First the initial meeting was great I told him the result I wanted and he advised me of how to get the those results, he was very patient and explained things. He gave me a written estimate and cost for everything broken down so I could pick and choose what I wanted done and what I could afford at the time. He fixed a broken pipe and installed an outside faucet, in addition I have had problems with the pipe installation of my irrigation system for the past 15 plus years I have lived at this location. Michael rerouted the pipes so the main water actually exited the home through the foundation and streamlined the entire system so it is lower to the ground, configured to reduce the risk of freezing and I am now able to access it easily. I also had him install a water softener and a mixer on the hot water tank. I really wanted a gas hot water tank and he explained why the cost of ventilating a gas water heater would not be in my best interest. The existing water tank was not installed per code so he redid the piping on the water heater so it is now per code. Over all I am really pleased with all the work and information Michael did at my home, he is very definitely "My Guy" for all plumbing needs."

"When I placed the repair request I needed, I immediately got a voice mail from Elizabeth, her message was very easy to listen to, and I didn't have to go back and listen to it again. Sam the plumber came out that day, looked at the jobs requested, and he told us exactly how much it would cost. He was very organized, professional, and friendly. The next day he was out again and was working on it when I came home for lunch, and he finished that afternoon. We are pleased to have new fixtures in our kitchen sink and a new toilet in our bathroom. The best thing is it was done promptly, and we didn't have to wait until next week for the jobs to be done."

"We have used Home Helpers numerous times for plumbing work in our home. They installed our sink and faucet in our kitchen. Our faucet came loose and they came out and tightened it back up for no charge. No matter what the job they will be our first call."

Small jobs welcome

"They came right away and addressed multiple issues we were having; including identifying and resolving the large clog in our main drain. In addition, they re-sealed two toilets, fixed the water pressure and drain in our Master Bathroom and devised a plan to hold watch over our hot water tank. Lastky, they assisted our County Sewer District with finding our sewer lids via camera and special tools. They deliver! They care! Thank you for your thorough and professional work. "I called them because a friend of mine had recommended them to me. He came out and fixed my toilet. Then I didn't think it was working right, so I called them back. They came out and they did some adjusting and it has worked fine. The price was more than I was expecting. But I know the things cost more nowadays. You can't be without a toilet, so they came right out. I kept their card so I can refer to them again. They're excellent. They didn't leave a mess. He came in, he fixed it and left and you wouldn't even know it was broken."

"Everything went fine. The service man was prompt, professional, and friendly. He told us up front even though we knew there was a leak, that diagnosis of the problem would cost $195.00. Of course we didn't know it was the cartridge that had gone bad so he did diagnose that. He went out for a while to local hardware plumbing distributors but did not find the part. Upon return, he said we could save a little money and order the part ourselves. I got a phone number for Moen parts and never could get beyond "1" for English, "2" for etc., etc. and finally gave up. Scott's Plumbing agreed to order the part and said it would take a couple of days. That was Aug. 14. We were told it would probably arrive on the 16th and they can replace the part on the 17th. We then got a call that they might not make it out on Friday, and we might have to wait until the following Monday. We told them that the defective Moen part was leaking more water now, and they said they would make it out on Friday. The serviceman arrived on Friday and installed the part. It didn't take that much time to install the part. I'm back using my kitchen sink, and everything works perfectly. My only hangup was the final price. I about choked when I was given the final invoice of $593.00. By the way, I found the Moen cartridge on line at Amazon, Ebay, Menard, and Lowes....not that we would have been able to install it ourselves, but it was priced less than $20."

"We noticed problems with flushing basement toilet.  After checking local plumbers on Angie's List we decided to go with Noble Plumbing since it had the most positive reviews and our usual plumber had several negative reviews within the past 30 days.  I called Richard at 9 a.m. and he was at my home at 1:30 the same day.   After a quick diagnostic he explained that it was a miracle that the existing pump had lasted 11 years and had not caused a horrible accident.  The contractor (Cougar Mechanical) hired when we built the home installed a gray water pump not designed to handle sewage from a toilet ---- even though they knew a toilet would be placed there.    Richard gave me several cost and type options on which pump to put in, went to Spokane to purchase it, and then changed pipes and installed the new sewage ejector pump.
He cleaned up after himself and was considerate of my home.  He was professional and prompt.  He gave me options and advice on the fix allowing me to chose the one that fit our budget and end use.
The only suggestion I could give him would be to get shoe covers as he had to make many trips across a lot of carpet and due to his type of business the sanity of his boots is questionable.  He apologized that he was out of them so it sounds like it is already his normal procedure.
I will most definitely use them in the future and recommend them highly.

Toilets questions, answered by experts

The cost to install a new toilet typically runs from $225 to $530. This doesn’t include the price of the toilet itself, which can cost $90 to $1,500 depending on the model and features you choose. You can save money if you choose to install a toilet yourself. However, you might want to hire a pro for this project.

"Due to the many complexities of replacing a toilet flange, it is typically a job best left to the pros," says Jeff Botelho, Angi Expert Review Board member and plumber. "Many times it isn't as simple and straightforward as 'pop off the old one and pop on a new one' because the flange is either glued on (PVC/ABS), soldered on (brass/copper), or caulked in place with a lead & oakum joint (cast iron) and none of these things can be easily reversed without years of training and repetitive practice."

A wax ring can often last the entire lifespan of a toilet, which is typically 20 to 30 years. However, it may need to be replaced sooner if it becomes damaged. Signs that your wax ring needs replacement include bad odors or leaks coming from the base of the toilet. The wax can also dry out, flake, or crumble if the toilet was not secured correctly upon installation or has become loose over time. If you notice your toilet wobbles, it's a good indication that the wax ring may be compromised and should be inspected to prevent leaks.

While technically possible, it is unlikely that a clogged toilet will fix itself. Clogs caused by water-soluble materials like toilet paper or human waste may eventually break down in the water, allowing flow to resume. However, this can take time, and any clogs from solid objects require manual removal. In most scenarios, especially if you don't have another bathroom, it is best to fix the clog yourself or call a plumber.

The lifespan of a toilet can vary significantly. While the porcelain body itself can last up to 50 years or more with proper care, most plumbers suggest an average functional lifespan of 10 to 25 years, and many homeowners replace their toilets after about 20 years.

A toilet's longevity is influenced by factors like maintenance quality, hard water buildup, and damage to the finish. It's also important to note that internal components have much shorter lifespans than the bowl; for example, flappers may last only a few years, while fill valves can last around 10 years.

Even if an older toilet is still functional, consider upgrading to a high-efficiency model to save on water costs.

A broken flange could lead to serious issues. When a flange breaks, the toilet is no longer secured to the subfloor, which leads to constant rocking when in use. Over time, this breaks the wax seal between the toilet and flange and causes leaking throughout the substrate, bathroom floor, and ceilings below the bathroom.
