"Professional, punctual, knowledgeable, and honest. After I contacted him to hire him for testing he came by and offered to test, then explained how the radon level was low during warm weather. However I still wanted to test. When the test came back very low level, he offered to come back, and retest for free during the cold weather. I would definitely recommend this company to anyone needing Radon testing or mitigation."

"Brian was really friendly and professional, and you could tell he was very thorough. He explained everything in a way that was easy to understand during the inspection, and the report he sent after was super detailed with pictures and notes on all the systems in the home. I especially liked that he included a section that called out the main issues to focus on. Overall, we were very happy with his service and would definitely recommend him to anyone."

"Crew was great, including electrician. In hindsight, I wish we had installed the apparatus differently. We did it (which was probably easiest for the installers), outside through my siding. Looks like the Tech Trail BC lead plant with the huge tubes bulging out of the back of the house, near the deck (i.e. noise). I still have not tested to determine the efficacy of the radon abatement. I will need to contemplate this purchase some......"

"My wife is very sensitive to mold and we already had a mold issue with our existing house that was remediated. So when we made an offer to buy a home, we needed to make sure we knew if there was any mold related issues. James performed a through inspection for mold of the house. He inspected the craw space, attic, interior, and exterior for all possible sources that could produce mold and took 5 air samples for lab analysis. He found some problems requiring fixes such as mold damage in the attic, excess water running into the crawlspace, inadequate insulation, missing insulation, cut wires to the fresh air intake, ductwork that was never installed, and a fallen vent stack in the attic. We will use him again the next time we do a home inspection for mold."

"This company was professional from start to finish! Setting up the appointment was quick and easy, they showed up on time and were concerned with my needs. They wanted to make sure the system was going in the proper spot, both inside and outside, and wore a mask and booties the whole time. I was impressed and will hire them again!"

Radon Detection and Reduction questions, answered by experts

The cost for a radon mitigation system typically ranges from $800 to $1,500, with an average around $1,000. The final price depends on several factors, including the size of your home, the severity of the radon issue, and the type of system required. Your home's foundation type also significantly impacts the cost. For example, sealing and ventilating an unfinished basement might cost around $4,600, while encapsulating a crawl space without a foundation slab can range from $1,500 to $15,000.

Your radon fan needs to operate 24/7 to be effective. The only time the fan isn't operating is during its replacement. Radon levels in the home can increase within hours if the fan stops working or something obstructs the stack vent. Fortunately, radon systems require no downtime maintenance between fan changes.

The natural breakdown of uranium in soil, rock, and water can cause radon to appear in a home. The gas seeps into homes through cracks in foundations, walls, or floors, as well as through gaps around pipes or construction joints. Radon levels are influenced by soil composition, building materials, and ventilation. Poorly sealed or airtight homes can trap radon, allowing it to accumulate.

If high radon levels are detected, steps include sealing entry points, installing a mitigation system, and retesting the air regularly to ensure reduced levels.

If your home has a sump pit, you can integrate it with a radon mitigation system. You can accomplish this by sealing the pump cover with an airtight lid that accommodates radon vent pipes and sump pump hoses. This allows the vent pipe to redirect the radon gas outside of your home.
