"So I hired these folks to help me unload a self-move U-Haul. I did help extensively with the unloading. I also moved six times in 10 years. While the workers were extremely nice, they did not arrive with basic moving gear: gloves, sliding pads, or hoist straps. They caused more damage than I'm comfortable with for a move. Furthermore, mid-transaction, the payment method changed, and the phone number became obsolete. I had concerns on the operational side."

Gym equipment can be heavy, so it’s best to transport it using a furniture dolly. When dealing with treadmills, weight machines, or other bulky items, hiring professional movers or roping in some friends and renting a moving van makes sense.

In most cases, you should get a full month’s notice for a move date. If you’re renting, your landlord or property management company is required to give the same amount of notice as your pay period length. So, if you pay rent each month, they will need to give you a month’s notice unless your leasing agreement says otherwise.

There are generally three ways to ship furniture to another state: hiring professional movers, using consolidated freight, or through parcel shipping. Professional movers will generally pack your boxes in a truck and transport them to a storage facility or directly to your home. 

A consolidated freight service will pack, load, and ship your items, but this is best to use for one or two pieces since your items will take longer to be delivered and will share truck space with other items.
