"Tony was very generous with his time and expertise. He walked us through our whole house and indetified all the places that might have asbestos, how likely it was that they had asbestos, how to get it cheaply tested, and it what ways it did or didn't pose a health risk. He also advised us on how to solve a small mold issue in our bathroom, and how to affordably improve our household air quality."

"They responded very quickly to my initial contact. I spoke to a field person right away and met with him 2 days later. I received the asbestos report that I needed 2 working days after that. Everything was handled very professionally and timely. I am very satisfied with the overall service."

"The Right Choice did an amazing job on my home renovation. They turned my old run down house into a dream house for me. They removed my wood siding and replaced it with river rock, painted the rest of the house and patio cover, took out my concrete walkway and flower bed and replaced it with a porch made from pavers. They also made a walkway down to the street. Leo was great to work with. He told me he wanted me to be happy with the job and he went above and beyond to make sure I was. The crew that worked on the house was fabulous. They worked hard, paid attention to detail and I could tell they took pride in their work. Leo communicated on an almost daily basis and made sure I understood the process. I couldn't be happier and highly recommend Leo and this company."

Asbestos Removal questions, answered by experts

Power washing asbestos siding can be hazardous and isn't recommended. The power washer's high pressure can disturb the siding and release harmful asbestos fibers into the air. Rather than attempting to DIY it, hire a professional trained in asbestos handling to tackle any exterior cleaning.

When asbestos damages the lungs it causes a condition called “asbestosis” which, unfortunately, can’t be cured once it’s damaged the lungs. This condition is chronic and any treatment is undertaken to improve quality of life. This usually involves quitting smoking, being prescribed oxygen, and undergoing lung rehab. Severe cases usually require a lung transplant.

You are not really supposed to seal asbestos with paint, but in theory it could work—the caveat being that this is extremely dangerous and should be avoided at all costs. The only real way to seal asbestos is with the professional application of an encapsulating material like epoxy. Due to the negative effect asbestos can have on your home, however, it is usually the best course of action to accept a costly fix and remove the material entirely.

It is possible to repair an asbestos roof if the damage is minor. However, it is crucial to follow proper safety procedures and regulations while doing so. It’s always recommended to hire a professional asbestos roofing contractor who specializes in asbestos roof repairs to ensure the work is done safely and correctly.

Most manufacturers stopped putting asbestos in linoleum before 1980 due to public concerns about its toxicity. However, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) didn’t ban asbestos-containing products until 1989, and a comprehensive ban was not announced until 2024. This means that homes built after 1989 may still have asbestos in their flooring.
