"The Right Choice did an amazing job on my home renovation. They turned my old run down house into a dream house for me. They removed my wood siding and replaced it with river rock, painted the rest of the house and patio cover, took out my concrete walkway and flower bed and replaced it with a porch made from pavers. They also made a walkway down to the street. Leo was great to work with. He told me he wanted me to be happy with the job and he went above and beyond to make sure I was. The crew that worked on the house was fabulous. They worked hard, paid attention to detail and I could tell they took pride in their work. Leo communicated on an almost daily basis and made sure I understood the process. I couldn't be happier and highly recommend Leo and this company."

Asbestos Removal questions, answered by experts

While there are some sealants designed to be spray-painted over asbestos to encapsulate it, you still want to make sure it’s a specifically designed product for this purpose—not just run-of-the-mill spray paint. Furthermore, be sure you aren’t inadvertently spraying the asbestos fibers around when you take on this project, and as always, be sure to wear the proper protective gear, including a P-100-rated respirator and a disposable body suit, so as not to inadvertently breathe in or spread asbestos fibers.

Although the use of asbestos has declined since the 1980s, it remains in several different types of building construction materials for insulation and as a fire retardant. Typically, asbestos can be found in materials such as ceiling and floor tiles, heat-resistant fabrics and coatings, and roof shingles. You may also find asbestos in textured paint and patching compounds.

Performing abatement for asbestos means the contractor removes or encapsulates the asbestos to protect your family’s health. The term abatement refers to the steps required to keep asbestos fibers from moving into the air. Understanding what asbestos abatement is can help you discuss the case with your contractors by understanding the jargon they use.

Asbestos-containing materials, like duct wrap, should be encapsulated using a sealant specifically formulated for asbestos. These sealants work to bind with asbestos fibers and help further neutralize them as a health risk. Whenever you’re working near asbestos-containing materials, be sure to keep safety as a top priority and wear a P-100-rated respirator as well as protective clothing.

It is not recommended to drill into asbestos siding because doing so can release hazardous asbestos fibers into the air. The safest way to handle asbestos-containing materials is to have a professional remove or encapsulate them.
