I called McCoy to address a leaking stand-pipe, atop of which is the toilet.  I have a two story home with a basement underneath, and the stand-pipe for the toilet on the first floor goes straight down to the floor of the basement.  Sound to you like a reason to re-affix the toilet?  The tub drains just beneath the toilet, and there is no leakage there.  So, the stand-pipe just above that junction (where tub drain meets stand-pipe)  is clogged.  McCoy sent a bill for the re-affixed toilet but my toilet still leaks.  McCoy wants its money but it does not want to do the job that it is paid to do, that it is asked to do, that it is contracted to do.  McCoy has no sense of quality work, no sense of obligation to get the job done, no sense of decency.  McCoy is a slipshod operator, and no one should call on them for service.  Indeed, if you do, J. McCoy, the owner, will expect you to beg them to do their job; they certainly can't abide a dissatisfied customer.
Use McCoy Plumbing (Moscow, Idaho) at your own peril!

UPDATE!

Called Hilliard's Plumbing in Pullman, Washington.  They sent out a service plumber.  He removed the toilet, found the real problem, spent time to explain it, and showed conclusively the shoddy job done by McCoy.  In point of fact, the stand-pipe was decayed.  That is, there is a large gap between the top of the pipe.  The pipe has rotted, and there are holes in the pipe.  Apparently, the pipe was in this condition when I bought the home; it was built in 1920.

When one calls for the services of a plumber, they do so wanting competence.  I am not a plumber, so I expect a plumber to know what he is doing.  McCoy did not send out a plumber, while Hilliard's did send out a plumber.

McCoy takes money while doing a shoddy job.  This is nothing short of fraud.  Hilliard's on the other hand, takes time to do the job correctly, to inform the customer of the details of plumbing problems.  McCoy's is a jerry-rigger; Hilliard's is a professional plumber.

I would like to provide pictures of the stand-pipe, but it appears that such support is not available on Angieslist. So, I will post the photographs on my profile page on FaceBook:

https://www.facebook.com/wrbuckley

That way, all who read this post will find the relevant photograph.  You'll know the quality of McCoy by noting the fact that they hid the damaged stand-pipe with two rings of wax, instead of actually fixing the problem.

n the stairs.Although i told the dispatcher that I had a water heater that was leaking and need to be replaced soon and that that appliance was on the second floor of my house, the company sent one man, who complained that the replacement would have been easier and faster (less-costly to me), if he had known that the water heater was on the second floor, in which case he would have brought a partner. -The biggest and most unexpected expense was to drain the old water heater, which the plumber suggested we should do by removing the screen on an upstairs window, to drain the water out on the roof of a downstairs add-on room, in January. I explained that it was difficult to remove the screen without using a ladder and that I didn't want the water on my roof. i further suggested that he drain the water in the shower of the adjoining room. The draining took a long time and the plumber complained that it was hard for him to transport the old water heater and the new one up and down the stairs.

The plumber was on time.  The work was done very quickly.  The product is a great quality and the work was done well with no mess left behind.  The old toilet was disposed of by McCoy's.
