"I had them tile the floor and shower and they were fantastic. They responded to my requests very quickly, and patiently answered all of my questions (there were many). They quoted 3 days and finished it on time. I was so impressed with their work that I already asked for a quote for my other bathroom and have recommended them to other people."

"SIMPLY OUTSTANDING! I was fortunate to hire Olympus Flooring for both a laminate flooring and carpeting for a major condominium remodel. The work that was done on both project was INCREDIBLE. Both projects were done in less than one day (each), and extremely professional. They were extremely flexible with scheduling and a pleasure to work with. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY! Will send project pictures if desired. JEP [email protected]"

"I originally hired Carpet Police to clean the carpets in my house. They were the first to respond when I got on Angie's List. Somehow, Carpet Police got usurped by another company called Arizona Island. Arizona Island did a terrible job and I called Carpet Police, again, to please come and repair the bad carpet cleaning that was done. Carpet Police did as good a job as I could possible expect to fix what went wrong. Alfonso was efficient, friendly, wore his mask when he was inside and I wouldn't hesitate to hire them again."

"We started out needing our fireplace tile replaced. We chose a mosaic tile knowing full well mosaics always have some flaws, but hoping they’d be minimal. Ben worked his magic and made that mosaic fireplace more beautiful than we could’ve hoped. He went above and beyond to make sure we got exactly what we wanted. Being so pleased with the fireplace, we decided to have our bathroom counters and tile backsplash redone. Again they turned out beautiful. Next will come the kitchen, then floors and showers. We absolutely love working with Ben and Whitney and couldn’t give them a higher recommendation."

"Even months after the job was completed, I am still so pleased. The Tile Guys responded to my initial message very quickly, completed on budget both dollar wise and time wise. He was able to pinpoint the problem ( water behind tiles/water damage), tear out only the tiles necessary to repair it and then apply proper seal and replace with new tiles. It looks fantastic. He was courteous, polite, did a good clean up each day and treated my home with respect. I would absolutely hire him again for any future project and would recommend him wholeheartedly."

Ceramic Tile questions, answered by experts

For best results, you should remove the toilet in a bathroom before removing tile or installing new tile. If you don’t remove the toilet, it will be harder to fully waterproof the tile around the toilet, which could increase the risk of mold growth or plumbing leaks. If you have trouble removing the toilet, hire a plumber to help.

The number of boxes of tile you need depends entirely on the amount of tile in each box or case. Different manufacturers package their tiles differently, and boxes contain different amounts of tile depending on the size, shape, and material. Often, the amount of area that a case will cover is listed in the product description. To calculate the number of boxes you need, take the total square feet of the space and divide it by the number of square feet the box will cover.

The reasons not to install flooring underneath a bathtub outweigh the benefits. A properly installed bathtub will keep water from reaching the unprotected subfloor underneath. Installing a tub on top of finished flooring can lead to damage and scratches to the new floor. Also, a small leak from a tub drain may be more difficult to notice if finished flooring impedes water drips.

The underlayment determines a ceramic tile’s sturdiness, and a cement board or backer board works best. Be sure to tape the joints when using these materials, and consider laying it on top of a layer of thin-set for more stability.

To ensure an even and unbending surface to lay tiles on, you’ll typically need to put a subfloor under a tile floor. Fiber cement backboards are the most common choice, but using plywood is also possible. Don’t neglect this step, or you could risk water damage and grout or tiles prematurely cracking or crumbling, especially in an area with high foot traffic.
