"I had a fantastic experience with the team from Rick's Custom Fencing & Decking, specifically the dynamic duo of Felix and Felix Jr. They installed a vinyl privacy fence in my backyard which was a bit tricky (on top of a retaining wall and had three gates). Felix and Felix Jr were extremely professional and courteous. They didn't leave a mess as they were working, and were 100% respectful of me and my property at all times. They had several minor questions throughout the build and paused their work to get my feedback; they clearly communicated what my options were at several key points, listened to my opinions and needs, and then continued with the build. As a woman homeowner, it means a lot to me that they listened and respected my feedback and input. I couldn't recommend this team enough - I would absolutely have them out again to do more work at my house if I needed it. If you're having a fence installed with Rick's, ask for Felix and Felix Jr - you will not be disappointed!!"

"Pioneer did a great job on my block fence. It turned out beautiful and compared to some of my neighbors their materials were so much better. They kept me up to date on their progress and finished quickly. I definitely recommend them for anyone looking for a beautiful block fence."

"These guys are fantastic. Sam, the owner, responded right away to my HA request for a replacement fence. His bid was reasonable and the folks who did the work were nice and professional. If I had a question, I texted Sam and he was right on top of it. I will use them again and soon as things go."

"So happy with this company! They installed over 200 feet of cedar fence and moved some sprinklers. Very nice to work with, worked super hard and made special effort to make everything just right. Most importantly, they kept in constant contact with us and always promptly responded to our texts or phone calls. I would highly recommend them for any work you might need done!"

Fencing questions, answered by experts

Regular staining, sealing, and inspecting for rot or insect damage prolongs fence lifespan.

Proper installation can make a big difference in your fence's maintenance needs. For example, wood fences that aren't installed correctly can be more likely to rot. While it's possible to DIY a fence installation, hiring a local fence company can mean much less work for you in the long run.

A professional fence installer will make sure your fence is positioned correctly and installed in a way that ensures longevity and limited upkeep requirements.

You can only change your neighbor's fence with their permission. A neighbor's fence is their property, and altering it without their consent could constitute trespassing or property damage, which may have legal consequences. If you have concerns or disagreements about your neighbor's fence, communicate with them openly and try to reach a mutually agreeable solution. If you believe the fence violates local zoning laws or property regulations, consult with local authorities or seek legal advice to address the issue through proper channels.

A high-quality wrought iron fence is one of the most durable options available and can last a lifetime, or even centuries, with proper care. However, wrought iron is susceptible to rust and corrosion if not maintained.

To maximize its lifespan, regular maintenance is required. This includes:

  • Cleaning the fence with soapy water every six months.

  • Scrubbing away any rust or corrosion as soon as it appears.

  • Applying a new coat of paint or refinishing the fence every few years to protect the metal from moisture and oxygen. The recommended frequency varies, with sources suggesting anywhere from every 1 to 10 years.

If significant rust develops, it's wise to hire a professional fence repair company to clean the rust and reseal the fence. The cost to refinish a fence is typically between $5 and $12 per square foot, a worthwhile investment to ensure its longevity.

Making a homemade pallet fence involves marking out the fence line and leveling the ground along it. Then, install metal or wooden fence posts that you slide the pallets on top of (two posts per pallet). Fasten them together with 2x4 wood boards that act as an extra layer, keeping the pallet fence secure.
