Warranties offered

"I had a fantastic experience with the team from Rick's Custom Fencing & Decking, specifically the dynamic duo of Felix and Felix Jr. They installed a vinyl privacy fence in my backyard which was a bit tricky (on top of a retaining wall and had three gates). Felix and Felix Jr were extremely professional and courteous. They didn't leave a mess as they were working, and were 100% respectful of me and my property at all times. They had several minor questions throughout the build and paused their work to get my feedback; they clearly communicated what my options were at several key points, listened to my opinions and needs, and then continued with the build. As a woman homeowner, it means a lot to me that they listened and respected my feedback and input. I couldn't recommend this team enough - I would absolutely have them out again to do more work at my house if I needed it. If you're having a fence installed with Rick's, ask for Felix and Felix Jr - you will not be disappointed!!"

Customers say: True professional

"Pioneer Landscaping & Fencing added decorative rock and concrete curbing around the perimeter of a recently installed block wall fence. They replaced concrete curbing around a trio of trees in my front yard to accommodate tree roots. A number of underground sprinklers were also relocated."

"Excellent communication and completed the fencing project when he said it would be done. This was the only company that was willing to build a "non traditional" fence."

Fencing questions, answered by experts

In Walla Walla, fence sections facing prevailing winds—typically west and southwest—often require reinforcement or repair. Areas with heavy shade or poor drainage, such as north-facing boundaries, are prone to rot and moisture damage. Gates and entryways experience frequent wear, while fencing near irrigation ditches or large tree roots may shift or lean over time, needing periodic adjustment or replacement.

Helpful?

Homeowners in Walla Walla typically decide on fence materials, height, and style to match neighborhood aesthetics and meet city guidelines. You’ll choose gate placement for easy access, select hardware suited for local weather, and review property surveys to confirm boundaries. Approving utility marking and drainage solutions is important, as is scheduling installation to avoid peak wind or rainy seasons for smoother project completion.

Helpful?

Before starting a fencing project in Walla Walla, check for sprinkler lines, septic tanks, or underground drainage near the planned fence line. Many properties have irrigation pipes close to boundaries, and fencing work can disrupt these systems. Consider the placement of outdoor lighting, electrical wiring, and HVAC units, as these may need to be relocated or protected during installation to avoid service interruptions.

Helpful?

During a fencing project in Walla Walla, contractors carefully assess property boundaries to avoid encroachment, especially in neighborhoods with older lot lines. Soil type—often clay or volcanic ash—affects post installation and drainage planning. Sloped yards require custom grading for stability. Wind exposure from the west and proximity to mature trees or irrigation systems are also reviewed to ensure the fence’s durability and compliance with local setback rules.

Helpful?

Delaying fencing in Walla Walla increases the risk of soil erosion, especially after seasonal rains or strong winds common in the region. Unfenced properties may face disputes with neighbors over unclear boundaries and greater vulnerability to wildlife or stray animals. For rural lots, postponement can lead to livestock escaping or damaging crops, while older, deteriorating fences may compromise both privacy and safety.
