I hired Sound Seismic to do an earthquake retrofit of my house and they did an excellent job through the entire process. Leif came out to do an estimate and was very knowledgeable and did a great job explaining the work and answering my questions. Scheduling was smooth and all of the communication was prompt. Monte was the main carpenter working on the job and he always showed up right on time, did a great job communicating, and did a great job cleaning up once the work was done. Overall I was very happy with the job they did and would definitely recommend them.

Matt was real pleasure to work with; he provided a lot of information as part of the initial visit. We got quotes from multiple companies, and he had a really competitive bid - but his communication was really what won us over.

the job went very well. I didn't really have to think about it. Matt showed up when agreed and finished when he told me he would. He was very agreeable and professional.

Had an excellent experience with this company from start to finish. The initial bid performed by Leif was thorough and he had several great ideas to help us save some costs. The production manager John was quick to respond to emails for our follow-up questions and ultimate scheduling. Prior to the retrofit, John came out and did a walk-through to make sure everything was ready to go and advise on some final prep we could do to help expedite the process. During the week of the retrofit everything went very smoothly. The crew, lead by Manny, showed up every day on time and kindly texted a few minutes before arrival so we could be ready. Work areas looked tidy after each day. They were so efficient they finished a day early. I would highly recommend using them.

Sound Seismic was top-notch from the bid through project completion. They were clear in communications and after a pre-project walkthrough with Production Manager, John, I knew exactly what to expect, in addition to what I needed to do to prepare for day one. The workers showed up on time and were respectful of my property, taking care to cover my personal property stored in the unfinished basement where the work was performed. Half of the basement is a crawl space, with very tight space to work, in addition to duct work and water lines as obstacles. One of the heat ducts was likely bumped and disconnected (totally understandable given the tight quarters) at some point during the project. When I realized there wasn't heat blowing from one of the registers after the workers left, I mentioned it to John in a text exchange we had going previously about the wrap up of the project. I told him that I would take a look at it later in the afternoon when I could crawl up there and get dirty and it would hopefully be a quick fix. He immediately responded that someone was already on the way to my house to fix it. Wow! And a short time later it was fixed. I wish all my construction projects were this smooth.

Everyone we worked with from A-FFIX was meticulous, hard working, courteous, thoughtful, and went beyond what was expected. Our old house will be standing for another century. They needed to do some repairs to the foundation and build a wall into the crawl space before they could attach the hardware. The job was completed quickly and they supplied us with a detailed review of our crawlspace and the project, complete with photos, when they were done. They did little extras that hadn't been included in the contract and cleaned up thoroughly before they went. The bill was $11,600

Affix did a great job. They care about what they are doing, were professional, easy to work with and got the job done earlier than originally expected. They also adjusted their bill to accommodate demo work that they didn't have to do. I would highly recommend Affix!

The owner James Ewing came out to give us an estimate for an earthquake retrofit. Up front communicate was easy. During the walk through he went over his process in detail and followed up the next day with the written bid.

My spouse and I recently purchased a 1929 house in the Seattle area. Not having grown up on the West Coast, I was particularly concerned about how our new house would fare in an earthquake. I knew a retrofit was a must. Before looking for a company to work with, I did a lot (I mean A LOT) of research on what goes into a retrofit in general. (Howard Cook’s youtube videos, uploaded under Bay Area Seismic Retrofit, are an excellent resource.) After learning about the process, I did a deep dive into Seattle area retrofit companies. Based on my research, there were three companies that I decided to contact. We met first with Matt Robinson of Evergreen Seismic and, after our consultation, we decided that there was no need to meet with anyone else. Matt was clearly knowledgeable about his craft—he easily and understandably explained the retrofit process for a house like ours and answered all of our (many) questions. We were even more impressed by how relatable and sincere Matt was. He was such a pleasure to talk with, and we could tell he meant it when he said that his goal is, if the big one hits (god forbid), all of the houses he has worked on will stand strong. After we met with him but before the retrofit started, Matt remained in good contact with us. I had some additional questions specific to our home’s structure. Matt took the time to email me comprehensive responses and followed up by phone to make sure I understood and was comfortable. We continued to be impressed with Matt as he completed the retrofit. To our great surprise and disappointment, just as Matt was scheduled to begin his work, we discovered some major issues with our new house. Because of this, we had to ask Matt to delay his work for a few weeks. While we felt horrible about this hiccup, Matt could not have been more gracious about it. He was truly wonderful to us in a moment of crisis, and we are so grateful. As for his work, it was impeccable. He worked on both the exterior and interior of our home. For both, he left the surfaces looking at least as good as they did before he started. He also was extraordinarily clean and conscientious of our space as he worked. In short, we could not recommend Evergreen Seismic more highly.
