"Elias Contruction provided a detailed estimate after inspecting the roof and making some qualified recommendations. The project required a few change orders that were not clarified in writing. I would recommend hiring Elias if you get changes in writing. They cleaned up pretty well although they missed a few things due to finishing in the dark. Overall satisfied with the job and cost was 60% of other bids due to sheathing adjustment."

"It has been a pleasure to work with this contractor. He keeps his appointments, does what he said he would and is very professional. He has a lot of experience and can offer pointers that make a better finished product. I will be hiring them for more projects as we move forward with the building plans."

"We had such a great experience working with Cory. He came highly recommended to us and did not disappoint! He did an awesome job on our concrete driveway—solid work, done right, and looks great (for longevity - he did this in 2021!). Super easy to deal with, always kept us in the loop, and showed up when he said he would. He’s an honest, hardworking guy who takes pride in what he does. Really appreciated the good communication and how smooth everything went. We continue to recommend him to anyone who mentions concrete work!"

"Michael and his team were excellent in repairing and seal coating our extended driveway and parking area. It took a lot of time, but they all did it with excellence and did not try to skip or do 2nd hand work. They were very focused on getting the project done correctly. When it is time for the regular maintenance on the driveway we will be sure to call them first."

"Excellent. Relatively new company but Jose Luis has many years working in the industry. I'm not usually impressed with work hired out to others but this was an exception. Good communication, high standards, very professional. I'm very happy with the job. Driveway extension matching exposed aggregate finish."

Asphalt Driveways questions, answered by experts

Asphalt and tarmac are not the same thing. Traditional tarmac, short for tarmacadam, uses tar as a binder to hold crushed stone together. Asphalt uses bitumen—a byproduct of crude oil—to bind aggregate. Though tarmac was once a go-to for roads, asphalt has become the modern standard. And these days, most surfaces referred to as “tarmac” are actually asphalt. So, while the names may overlap, the key distinction lies in the binder—tar for tarmac and bitumen for asphalt.

Asphalt edging secures the sides of your driveway to prevent crumbling and cracking over time. Most driveways have edges with a 45-degree grading. This helps transfer some of the stress from the asphalt to the ground underneath. If your driveway doesn’t have proper edging, the pressure from your car may break down the edges over time.

The dimensions of a driveway apron vary based on local building codes, the width of your driveway, and the distance between the driveway and the road. On average, aprons range from 12 to 24 feet wide and 8 to 18 feet long. Typically, the end of the apron connected to the driveway matches its width—such as 10 to 12 feet for a single-car driveway—while the end at the street flares out to allow cars to turn in and out more easily. In some areas, you may not be responsible for the portion of the apron that extends beyond the sidewalk, but this depends on local laws.

Asphalt driveways last anywhere from 15 to 30 years, but if you don’t stay on top of repairs, you may find yourself spending extra to replace your driveway before its typical lifespan. Stay on top of repairing cracks and potholes by routinely inspecting your driveway once or twice a year. It’s a good idea to pressure wash your asphalt driveway at least once a year to keep it clean. Apply a sealer every one to five years, based on your climate.

Asphalt is made of aggregate materials (sand, rocks, and gravel) and bitumen, a viscous, petroleum-based, waterproof substance. These materials are mixed together at extremely high temperatures to form asphalt.
