"Steve was amazing! He came out the same day to look at the tree, provide an estimate, then came back the next day to remove the tree. He was quick, efficient, friendly, and professional. I highly recommend Douglas Tree Service!"

"Mike and his team at Highlander Tree Service recently removed a maple tree from a steep incline location. From the beginning of communication with Mike, he was friendly, knowledgeable and very efficient with immediate cost information. He not only quoted the price, but offered to do other helpful tasks with a willingness that is so refreshing. Mike and Nick worked this process with skill and such carefulness in the surrounding area and also the clean-up process was impeccable. I highly recommend their service and work ethics. Thank you, Highlander Logging and Tree Service!"

"Tedd, was courteous, punctual, knowledgeable. and very proficient. He explained everything as he went and his cleanup was superb, better than our local lawn services do in the neighborhood. I will use them again."

"everything went very well. The trees that we had cut were close to the water pump and our home. He cut the trees and told us where they would land and they landed just where he said. The job was done in less that 2 hours if that. A very good experience and we would hire him again. We would and have recommended him."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

Pruning is an effective way to prevent a diseased branch from infecting the rest of the tree. If the infection isn’t caught early enough and the pathogen has spread to the trunk or the majority of the branches though, it is too late to prune off the affected areas and you’ll likely need to remove the tree.

Yes, it’s okay to trim low branches on a tree, also known as limbing up or raising the crown. Essentially, you’ll trim the lower third of the tree (trunk) and leave the upper two-thirds of the tree (crown). Arborists recommend trimming 20% of a tree’s leaves per season for two to three seasons. Trimming low branches allows light to flow through the tree, increasing circulation and making the tree stronger and healthier.

The exact answer to this question depends on which region of the country you’re talking about, but according to various tree counts, some of the most common types of trees in the United States include red maple, Douglas fir, quaking aspen, loblolly pine, and sweetgum.

Burning a tree stump can be effective, but it comes with safety considerations and isn’t always best for every situation. It's essential to check local regulations and assess the safety risks involved. Stumps that are near wooden structures or other non-moveable flammable objects aren’t good candidates for burning due to the risk of the fire spreading. Alternatives like grinding or a DIY stump rotting project might be safer and quicker for getting the job done.

Unfortunately, palm tree stumps are one of the most difficult types to remove due to how their roots grow. Unlike other trees, palm tree roots grow horizontally and vertically. Palm tree roots grow as deep as three feet into the ground, although soil and growing conditions could mean they go as far as 50 inches into the earth.

If you want to be able to repurpose the grass in the area where you removed a stump later, you’ll have to dig quite deep—and perhaps wide—to trim away all the roots.
