"Steve was amazing! He came out the same day to look at the tree, provide an estimate, then came back the next day to remove the tree. He was quick, efficient, friendly, and professional. I highly recommend Douglas Tree Service!"

"Mike and his team at Highlander Tree Service recently removed a maple tree from a steep incline location. From the beginning of communication with Mike, he was friendly, knowledgeable and very efficient with immediate cost information. He not only quoted the price, but offered to do other helpful tasks with a willingness that is so refreshing. Mike and Nick worked this process with skill and such carefulness in the surrounding area and also the clean-up process was impeccable. I highly recommend their service and work ethics. Thank you, Highlander Logging and Tree Service!"

"Tedd, was courteous, punctual, knowledgeable. and very proficient. He explained everything as he went and his cleanup was superb, better than our local lawn services do in the neighborhood. I will use them again."

"everything went very well. The trees that we had cut were close to the water pump and our home. He cut the trees and told us where they would land and they landed just where he said. The job was done in less that 2 hours if that. A very good experience and we would hire him again. We would and have recommended him."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

In general, trees should be planted no closer than 15 to 20 feet from your foundation. For larger trees with far-reaching roots like maples, oaks, or poplars, a good guide is to plant as many feet from your home as the tree’s height is expected to reach at maturity. Some trees, like elms and willows, should only be planted far from where their roots may encounter sewer or water lines.

Leaving a dead tree can expose your other trees to potential diseases, pests, and fungi, and it can also be a hazard. If your tree is dead, then you should hire a tree maintenance service to remove it. Cutting down trees is extremely dangerous, and a professional can ensure no one gets hurt and there is no damage to your property. Tree removal costs between $200 and $2,000 and will prevent future issues and keep you and your property safe.

If it’s your property, then you can plant a tree near power lines, but it’s not the best idea. Any vegetation that grows within 10 feet or so of power lines will fall under the responsibility of the utility company, and they may trim or remove it as necessary. If you do move forward with your plan, try to choose a smaller ornamental tree, plant it as far away from the power lines as you can, and keep it trimmed to avoid future problems.

You will know that an oak tree needs to be removed when you see vertical cracks or dead branch stubs, which indicate internal decay. Other signs include trunk rot near the base of the tree and sprouts or small branches coming from the trunk.

Since each tree is different, it’s impossible to say how long a dead tree can remain on your property. While it could be days, months, or even years, it’s highly likely that, at some point, the tree will fall. In the meantime, dying or dead trees can become a haven for pests, so it’s best to have them removed sooner rather than later.
