"What an incredible job!  We purchased our own tile and faucet, but David installed it all.  He removed the ugly pink tile we had for the past 25 years.  What a difference!  David offered suggestions on the size of tile to use and how he would install it.  It is now totally more up to date.  David showed up on time, always followed up with a phone call.  He was great to work with.  We will definitely use him again when we redo our other bathroom.

"Sergey and his coworker Vladimir did an outstanding job installing tile in my shower. From start to finish, they were always punctual, professional, and incredibly easy to communicate with. Both of them were extremely polite, respectful, and clearly take great pride in their work. Their attention to detail is truly exceptional — every cut, every line, every finish was done with precision and care. The final result exceeded all of my expectations, and the shower looks absolutely beautiful. I highly recommend Sergey and Vladimir to anyone looking for high-quality tile work. I’m already looking forward to working with them again on our next project. You won’t be disappointed!"

"A American Cleaning Bob's Rob Cartwright responded promptly to our call and arrived quickly to give us an estimate. The company's main focus is on carpet and upholstery cleaning, but they also do re-installation. The estimate, which included quality padding, and cleaning after installation, was reasonable and we were impressed with Rob's professionalism. That's understandable in retrospect, as he has been with the company since 1991 and holds a “Master Textile Cleaner” Certification, according to the company's website. He arrived on time for the installation, completed the re-installation efficiently, and left the carpet looking cleaner than it ever had. We were very pleased. We will certainly hire A American Cleaning Bobs the next time we need carpet work done."

"I would give them 10 stars if I could. Jeff and his team did our new office in Old City Hall for both carpet and tile. They did a great job laying down several different kinds of carpet tiles, and also traditional tiling. He was fair and transparent in his pricing. Much more so than other commercial installers. Jeff was a great communicator throughout the process. Iâ d work with him again should the opportunity arise."

"So well. We were supper impressed by their knowledge and helpful attitude. They were very professional and taught us a few things as well! We are very new at home projects and loved that they knew what they were doing. Really great people, friendly and honest. We will be hiring them for a skylight installment this summer. Cheers."

Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

Yes, but you should only put tile directly on drywall in smaller areas that don’t experience excess moisture. For example, a small kitchen tile backsplash could work, but installing tile directly on the drywall in a bathroom or other chronically damp area is not a good idea. Either way, a cement backer board is a far more reliable solution, as drywall is susceptible to moisture and can warp or cause your tiles to crack.

Thinset mortar is the best adhesive for ceramic tiles on concrete. It is easy to work with and has a slower dry time than mastic or epoxy mortars. This longer dry time gives the installer more time to adjust tiles, which is especially useful for DIYers who may not have tile installation experience. It can also be built up to help level any depressions or gaps in the concrete subfloor.

The best types of tiles for a shower are ceramic and porcelain tiles. These materials are durable, water-resistant, and easy to maintain, making them ideal for wet environments. Porcelain tiles are slightly more durable than ceramic. Both options come in a wide variety of styles, so you can achieve the perfect look for your bathroom.

No, when done correctly, removing the tile shouldn’t damage the subfloor. However, if there was pre-existing damage to the subfloor from standard use or lack of maintenance, the subfloor may need repairs. For example, if the contractors notice mold growth on the subfloor or an uneven surface, you may need more extensive services before installing new tile.

If you DIY tile removal, remove the tiles one step at a time, individually removing the tile, grout, and mortar to prevent unnecessarily damaging the subfloor. Depending on the age of your home, consider having a professional inspect the subfloor to ensure it’s in good enough condition to lay new tile.

When choosing between porcelain and ceramic tile, the best option depends on your specific needs, budget, and project application. Porcelain tile is generally more durable, denser, and harder than ceramic, making it a good choice for busy, high-traffic areas. It also offers superior moisture resistance, making it ideal for moisture-retaining spaces. However, porcelain is typically more expensive, and its hardness can make it brittle, potentially causing it to crack if a heavy object is dropped on it. In contrast, ceramic tile is a more budget-friendly option with lower material and installation costs. It is softer and easier to work with, making it a great choice for DIY projects. While not as durable as porcelain, ceramic is still a quality material suitable for many home applications, particularly small, decorative projects.
