"We have used Beko’s Tree for several years now, for both planned and emergency projects, and are grateful for their service! Beko is smart and professional, he prices his work fairly, and he is quick to help when trees have blocked our driveway. He provides sage advice on how to best approach dead and leaning trees, and how to best approach big trees on our high bank property. We highly recommend Beko’s!"

"Greg did a fantastic job for us. He ground up 4 tree stumps and even went above and beyond by grinding up a bed with huge blackberry nodules and ground cloth. We can now plant in this bed. He’s great to work with, pleasant and professional, prompt and a good communicator. I’d hire him again in a minute!"

"Martin and his team did a fantastic job taming our very overgrown garden, pruning a couple of trees, planting another and installing a new lawn. The grass seeds are just beginning to grow, and we are enjoying the new greening. Martin is a great communicator via text and email, responding quickly to questions and concerns. He and his team hauled away not only all of the weeds and branches, but also all the old plastic pots and broken tools behind the house. We will gladly bring them back for future projects."

"Great Job, was able to change day and show up for an earlier date to get a quote. We decided on a reasonable price for the work that day and started work two days later. They stated the work could take 2 days but they finished in one day and got it all done. We were very happy with the final product. We will do services with them again."

"I live in Lacey. I thought getting a bid to take out 4 trees from a company so far away would be more expensive. I was so wrong. I called 4 different companies to get estimates. Only one company called me back. I set an appointment for an estimate and they gave a 3 hour window of when they would be here. They missed the window by over an hour. That company wanted $2800 to take out 4 trees. I went to Angie's list, put in my info and got 3 calls the next day. When Harold from H&M called... he said he could be here in 30 minutes. He showed up a couple minutes early. His estimate was half of the other company $1400 total to remove the trees and clean everything up. While he was here he pruned a couple of other trees and took out some weed trees no extra charge. Even though he was coming from an hour away he was still 5 minutes early. I am going to have him come back in the winter to trim some huge trees in my front yard. I can't believe that these guys have such great prices and did such a great job."

"Mike was very responsive, I got a quote right away and scheduled service. The crew showed up and had the first tree down in about 15 minutes, I was amazed. When they were finished they asked me to come look at everything to make sure it met my expectations. They did a great job and meticulous clean up."

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

You can use the formula mentioned earlier to calculate the depth of tree roots. Each inch of width of a tree trunk translates to six inches of depth within the root system. Large trees extend anywhere from 2 to 6 feet into the ground, with some magnificent specimens going even deeper.

In most cases, leaving tree roots underground is not a problem if the stump has been removed or ground below the soil. However, some larger roots may decompose, leaving dents in your soil. Additionally, some aggressive trees, including willows, oaks, elms, maples, and poplars may grow back from roots. Large aggressive trees with established root systems are more likely to grow back.

Pruning can impact cold hardiness—but it’s less about the exact temperature and more about temperature variation. Generally, you don’t want to prune trees when there’s a risk of temperatures suddenly dropping from 50 to 60 degrees Fahrenheit to 0 degrees Fahrenheit or below. A tree is most sensitive until 48 hours after it’s pruned.

Yes, it is essential to confirm that any tree service company you hire is properly insured before they begin work. Tree removal, trimming, and pruning are dangerous jobs, and proper insurance protects you, your home, and the company from liability in case of accidents or damage. Look for a company that carries both general liability and workers’ compensation insurance, and do not hire one that cannot provide proof of coverage. When browsing for professionals, you can look for indicators like an “Angi Approved” badge, which signifies that the business meets standards like holding applicable licenses and passing a background check. Keep in mind that a license is a legal requirement to operate, while certifications are typically voluntary.

Not all evergreen conifers need to be pruned, but some do. Pruning pine trees is not necessary, but you can do so during June and July if you wish. On the other hand, spruce, firs, and junipers do need to be pruned from late winter to early spring.
