"We have hired Westerlund Tree service twice over the past five years. The second time, it wasn't even worth our time to bid it out after getting their very reasonable quote and knowing the excellent team. They clean up everything, (the yard looked better than when they got here) moved chips to more convenient locations for us, and were able to effectively troubleshoot a very difficult tree removal from a swampy area. They have become our rusted tree people."

"Excellent service. Answered emails and phone calls right away. Patrick and his crew showed up on time and did an excellent job taking down this tree with no damage to my dock. Good clean up afterwards. Very pleasant and professional. Would definitely hire again."

"We have used Beko’s Tree for several years now, for both planned and emergency projects, and are grateful for their service! Beko is smart and professional, he prices his work fairly, and he is quick to help when trees have blocked our driveway. He provides sage advice on how to best approach dead and leaning trees, and how to best approach big trees on our high bank property. We highly recommend Beko’s!"

"Jon was very professional. He was on time for a consultation and again for actual work. He very flexible taking on additional work I requested while on site. He sought to save a tree that was viable with careful pruning rather than simply cutting it down as others had proposed. His work was skillful and accomplished our goal. In the end his bill came in within his bid which we appreciated. I highly recommend Jon and plan to call on him for future tree removal services!"

"We needed to remove two dying trees and two dead trees from our yard. Once we found Pablo's landscaping, he bid quickly, he communicated well, and he did the job on a timely basis for a reasonable price."

"The tree team arrived at the scheduled time and cut down the tree within about 1.5 hours. They were careful to avoid the new gutters and took all the debris away. Price was good. They were friendly, patient, listened carefully to my concerns and have 10 years experience. Great to work with!"

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

No, homeowners insurance typically does not cover the cost of removing a dead, sick, or rotting tree that is still standing. Insurance is designed to protect against sudden and unexpected accidents, whereas a tree dying or rotting over time is considered a maintenance issue. Coverage usually only applies after a tree has fallen and caused damage to your property.

DIY is risky and not recommended for large trees; professional services ensure safe removal and proper disposal.

Yes, it’s okay to trim low branches on a tree, also known as limbing up or raising the crown. Essentially, you’ll trim the lower third of the tree (trunk) and leave the upper two-thirds of the tree (crown). Arborists recommend trimming 20% of a tree’s leaves per season for two to three seasons. Trimming low branches allows light to flow through the tree, increasing circulation and making the tree stronger and healthier.

The exact answer to this question depends on which region of the country you’re talking about, but according to various tree counts, some of the most common types of trees in the United States include red maple, Douglas fir, quaking aspen, loblolly pine, and sweetgum.

The best time to transplant a tree is when it is dormant. For many trees, this means either in the fall after the leaves have dropped (around October or November) or in early spring before new growth begins (around March). The ideal timing can depend on the type of tree. Deciduous trees do well when moved in early spring or fall, while evergreens are best transplanted in early spring or late summer. For example, pine trees are best moved in early fall, but maples prefer late fall. Avoid transplanting in winter, as the frozen or hard, cold soil poses a significant risk to the roots and prevents the tree from acclimating properly.
