"Sean and Richard did an amazing job getting rid of the woodpeckers getting into our attic. They removed the existing woodpecker nests from the attic and installed "bird blocks" around our house in the likely places. They were very nice to work with and very professional. They came when they said they would and did an amazing job, for a fair price and finished quite quickly. They did everything they said they were going to do. They gave us a guarantee and encouraged us to contact him with any questions. I did text Sean, and he responded quickly with a good answer. I would highly recommend U.S. Animal Control of the Great Northwest!"

Pest Control questions, answered by experts

You’ll want to locate all areas in your home that could be a potential entry point for mice, such as doors, windows, vents, baseboards, holes, and cracks in your home’s foundation. Don’t forget to check less-obvious areas like the attic, plumbing and sewers, and even the roof and gutters. If you check these spots and don’t find any signs of mice, consider hiring a pest control pro to dig deeper into potential hiding spots.

DIY treatments may help minor issues, but professionals provide long-term solutions and prevent recurrence.

If the nest is on or in your home, you should have an exterminator remove it. However, if the wasp nest is in an area of your yard that you don't frequent, you can leave it alone as long as the wasps don’t bother your household members. Wasps are very active during the summer months, but they will vacate in the fall and not return until the following year. So, if it's safe to do so, you can leave it, but if it poses a threat of being stung because it's in an area that you use frequently, consider having it removed.

Yes, it’s possible for bats in your attic to find a way into your living spaces. Until you can properly remove the bats, the best course of action is to keep the attic doors closed and any holes sealed. Evidence suggests bats follow the airflow in your home, so they may try escaping from the attic to other parts of the house.

You should never block both the top and bottom of your chimney. Proper airflow is essential because the temperature inside the chimney will still fluctuate as your house warms and cools. Moisture can build up without ventilation, leading to dampness in your walls over time. Blocking the top prevents debris and animals from entering, but the chimney still needs air circulation to avoid condensation issues. Allowing the chimney to breathe maintains the health of your home and prevents long-term damage.
